Since I am an advanced android user who has learned to turn his WI-FI both off, and on again, I too vote for option A
James has noted in this thread that the X7 is not competing with the AK240, or Hugo, etc.. I'd be cautious about making these statements until the unit is actually released, though we can be optimistic. Personally I doubt it will compete with the Hugo against the Hugo's strengths. I'm waiting to see about the others.
I never mentioned the Hugo. I haven't heard it for myself. I HAVE, however, heard the AK240 and my impression was that if the X5 was improved some, it'd be about on par with it or at least very close. Because let's face it: It's already a VERY good-sounding DAP.
I was referring to Skerry's post just above mine.
opition A, two MicroSD slot and the WiFi module connects to the GPIO, which means we have to disable the WiFi when it is not active . ortherwise the WiFi module will consume a lots of power.
option B, one MircroSD slot and the WiFi model connects to the SPI pin, the SPI will automatic handle the power so it can save the battery .
Can someone explain to me why "disabling WiFi when it is not active" would cause anyone a problem? Because if it wouldn't ever cause any problems, then option A sounds pretty good to me:

Yep - but think of the poor guys who rely mainly on wifi for streaming. They get an extra micro-sd that they may not need, and wifi that drains the battery rapidly (which would be their main use). Fiios solution helps both camps - wifi users and others.
If people simply must have more than 128 gb - don't buy the unit - get an X5 instead.
Given that Fiio have to make compromises somewhere - I think they've come up with a pretty nice DAP design. The only other way to solve it would be to make the onboard storage bigger - but that causes compromises as well (price).
I personally don't have an issue whith what they're doing with the X7 - and I don't even use streaming.
How many "poor guys" spend 700.00 on a DAP? Just asking!
LOL - do a search for "ramen" on these forums, and see just how many would be prepared to reduce their food budget to pursue higher fidelity audio. I think that is an answer in itself

I predict hundreds (maybe thousands) of X7 standard amp modules lying unused in the box, and loads of classified ads trying to sell them.
Not good for customers.
Not good for the environment.
Maybe they should release 2-3 version of X7? One 32gb and other 64-128gb?
I'm ready to pay 50-100$ more for 64-128gb version.

i'm wondering how many versions or SKUs X7 would have at launch. just 1 SKU with normal amp module or a few SKUs with different amp modules?

Yes, that is our plan in the future.
