X7+AM2+Seahf LD-4.0 400 Ohm should be analogue enough imo.

my god. people.

The X7ii is so very far from being released. please just stop talking about it. this is the X7 thread, not the 'X7ii just in case it gets released within 2 days even though FiiO said at earliest mid 2017' thread.

Things to look forward to with the X7:
-Android 5.1
-amp modules
-just enjoying the music
-bugfixes
-ENJOYING the MUSIC
-3rd party things

and of course

enjoying. the. music.

-CH23

P.S: you want to talk about this fabled and at this point non-existing X7ii?

make a thread for it.

does anyone know how X7+AM5 compete with portable dac amp in SQ aspect?? lets say compared to mojo or cayin i5 or maybe something else. and assume the source is X7. and how's the technical explanation. maybe @Brooko can comment on it :D

I don't have practical experience, but I heard that X7+portable AMP is usually more powerful.

But AM5 comes quite close to that, and since you don't have to stack anything or carry additional equipment in your pocket, lots people are willing to make this trade off and just to stick with AM5.

At least this is my impression as I read this thread.

Yep, agreed.

The part that breaks my heart the most: I've now seen TWO people post in this thread along the lines of "eh, not worth buying the X7 if a new one is coming out"

Poor dudes will be waiting a loooong time!

Sadly, i'm one of those two people mentioned. :frowning2: mostly because of budget. And in my experience, it's quite challenging to sell audio equipment, that's why i can't just purchase a 2nd dap. Hopefully i can dispatch my 100ii over the weekend and that "should" give me more reason to pull the trigger on the X7. :)

I auditioned the X7 with AM5 at my local headphone shop with my Oppo PM3 (26ohm) and did AB testing with my AK100 MKII

I found the X7 to have elevated bass in comparison

I love the physical characteristics of the X7 and the UI is much snappier in comparison but the elevated bass threw me off. Was it because the AM5 amp module was overkill for my 26ohm headphones? I haven't heard the AK100 MKII being described as bass light in reviews so I'm trying to get a better understanding of what I was experiencing

Any help is greatly appreciated

Errr rather than AM5 being overkill, perhaps we could think of it as having power in reserve to bring out more demanding portions of the music when using PM3.
