Has anyone tried to port over or copy features from the 2nd gen x5 over to the 1st gen one? Or is this custom firmware stuff purely aesthetics?

To use the forward and back keys you need to change over to Lockscreen2 in the settings menu. It'll show a picture of the active keys in the lock screen.

When the screen is off the volume keys act as Forward/Back buttons when held. To change volume in the lock screen you need to use multiple short presses on the volume buttons.

Is there a way to turn off skipping tracks by holding the volume button? It seems so unintuative since I already have buttons for that.

No, there is no way to change this as far as I can tell. It would be nice though.

I miss my X5 modding days.
I've moved on to the Hiby R6 Pro now.
Still modding though, for anyone interested.
