Fiio X3 How can I play continuously through folders, rather than just all songs of one folder and back?

I recently purchased a Fiio X3 because my mac bricked Cowon J3 (common tricks to fix that didn't work) and straight away I ran into a small problem. I never used a special file manager because of a big disdain for itunes (and the likes) and like my player to just be drag and drop. This doesn't really seem to be a problem on my X3, but when playing my music it doesn't move on to the next folder when one is finished. I tried all playthrough settings, but they obviously just shuffled things up or started playing the album back to front when finished.
My X3 came standard with firmware 3.0, so I don't know if this is a firmware thing, but I looked all over google and all I could find was point 11 on Fiio's official facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/FiiOAUDIO/posts/588131067911097 ).

'It will be fixed' is all I know right now, but considering I like listening to cd's in my folders I don't really like having to manually change folder every (short) time. Is there a setting or other way to have continuous playthrough, or am I out of luck?

Hello iuuk,

This is a sore point with the X3, I admit :xf_eek:

You may upgrade to the latest beta firmware version 2.34
http://www.head-fi.org/t/742014/x3-firmware-3-22-3-24beta-m3u-playlists-5-band-eq-nooneleftbehind

This still does not play through folders, however it lets you create M3U playlists on your computer for use on the X3. You may create "compilation playlists" containing several albums and use this function to play through several albums thusly.

Hope that helps :xf_eek:

Best regards,
Joe

Thanks for the response. It's better than nothing, but I can't say it's a logical thing for an MP3-player not to support folder playthrough. I really hope they'll add that in a firmware update not too far down the line.

I've been told it's not too far down the line :)
