FiiO X1 II (2nd Gen) w/ Bluetooth!
Jan 10, 2017 at 6:00 PM Post #1,861 of 3,121

Hi fish1050 and George P (and FiiO),

I have my music organized into folders through iTunes (I know, I know, it's a pain) on a Mac. I am syncing the iTunes Media/Music folder to my microSD using Dapper.

I went into my iTunes library and tried to figure out what might have been missing to produce this problem. Almost everything had an "Artist," which is how the folders are organized, so it's not that. A lot of things were missing an "Album Artist'--actually too many, like 8,000, so it's not that.

A little over 4,000 songs were missing a genre. Add to that a couple hundred songs that are smaller than 1mb, like George P mentioned, and I'm APPROACHING the ~4,500 songs that are missing in the "All Songs" menu from the total amount displayed in "About X1"...but not quite there yet....

Since it's so hard to browse, I can't really check individual files, but I will sync my X1 later tonight with genre tags added to all my files, update the media library overnight, and report my results in the morning.

ALSO: this probably deserves its own post, but is anyone else finding that holding the up or down volume buttons on the side while the screen is dark screen actually CHANGES the song that's playing?

I use my thumb on the circular pad. Sometimes it goes forward and sometimes backwards, even though I am moving my thumb clockwise. Sometime slowly and sometimes fast.

User Interface needs to be predictable and user intuitive.

I know what you guys are doing. Depending on the list of elements it's looping around at the end of the list. And sometimes backwards.

If you guys can fix this behaviour to be consistent and not too fast, I won't have to fight this damn thing to use the scroll wheel.

I had to disable the new buttons you made around the scroll wheel for the wheel is super sensitive.

Hope you can get the kinks out and perfect this behaviour.

Thank you.

Another idea for the next update. Those changes you have made to the clickwheel do not work as smooth as they should. They act too fastly so.. either change it to be slower or made it so that you can use the "classic" clickwheel mode or this one from the firmware 1.5.3... or even better, make both.

On the 1.5.3 Firmware go to the Settings, find 'Scroll wheel press function' option and set it to 'Off'. This will disable wheel press functionality.

Good find! I'll also check this today.
About your second question: yes, long press on the volume buttons does change the song on the any lockscreen type.

P.S. Can someone please recommend a Tag changing application for the Windows (Win 10)?

Hi FiiO,

The missing songs are definitely MP3s, at least for the most part. I only have ~400 AACs, and ~4,500 songs are missing from the "All Songs" menu.

Unfortunately, I am not able to figure out which songs are showing up under "Browse Files" but not the "All Songs" menu because this would be a very slow process, considering that I have a large library. I also cannot figure out how the "All Songs" menu is organized, which makes it more difficult.

I only have one microSD card, so I cannot test with another card.

Anything else I could do to be helpful here?

Dear gbr7,

Thank you for your feedback. Ok, if you have more discovery, please feel free to contact us.

This is designed to act like that in order to be the same as X1 1st gen. But we may consider whether changing it in the future.

Best regards
Best

  Dear Fiio,
I think I have a similar problem. After updating the media library I am getting the message saying that update was successful and 755 files were updated. The number of the songs in About section is also 755. Now when I'm entering the 'Category' section and then click on the 'All Songs' and start playing any song, I get only 572 songs. I have both MP3s and FLACs in my library. The Firmware Version is 1.5.3.

Ok, I have digged a little bit into this problem and have discovered, that some songs, that are smaller than 1MB, are not displaying in the 'All Songs' section (Like Linkin Park's 'Empty Spaces' and 'Foreword' (both files are ALAC)). At the same time I can find and play them via 'Browse' section. Very strange behavior.

Dear George P,

Would you mind sending some this songs to us? Thank you in advance.

Best regards

  Dear Fiio,

I know this is quite the trivial request, but I'll try anyways : do you think it would be possible for the X1-II to display the artworks in an anti-aliased fashion? No matter the artworks, there is always some pixel stairs on the diagonals and circles. I tried with optimized artworks (300x300), slightly larger artworks (400x400, 500x500), nothing does it.

Here are two arts from my library, if the Fiio Dev Team is willing to experiment the matter, the second one particularly makes the issue apparent.

Again, I know that a DAP is primarly for listening to music and such, but if it could also display the artworks in a smooth fashion, that'd be awesome ^^'

Thanks again, keep up the good work!

Dear kaegell,

I will report to the software team about this. We will try to improve it but may not right away. Thank you for your kind feedback.

On the 1.5.3 Firmware go to the Settings, find 'Scroll wheel press function' option and set it to 'Off'. This will disable wheel press functionality.

Try MusicBee. It's a free download for Windows, really impressive program with tons of features and customization. It also has a ridiculous amount of Tag changing options.

If you want to just tag songs, Musicbrainz Picard is pretty good. I've been using it on Mac for a long time now, and it works great. Here's the link https://picard.musicbrainz.org/downloads/
