Beta firmware version 1.21beta for the X1 is now available!
http://www.mediafire.com/download/1b1io66vhf2oapu/X1FW1.21Beta.zip
https://www.dropbox.com/s/a3e2exfura41zse/X1FW1.21Beta.zip?dl=0 (temporary dropbox mirror)

The following changes and improvements were made to firmware 1.21 compared to 1.20:
1. Enabled modification of all EQ presets.
2. Fixed issue where shuffle mode reverted to the same set of "random" songs if starting from the same song.
3. Fixed issue where tracks not supported by the player were skipped immediately without a prompt.
4. Fixed issue where tracks of sample rate 352kHz caused the player to hang ("format not supported" will be displayed instead)
5. Fixed issue where the player sometimes hung in File Browsing.

Known issue:
The player will hang if the Shortcuts key is pressed while adjusting a named EQ preset other than Custom (this is supposed to bring up the dialog box to reset the preset, but has not been implemented correctly yet.

Please note the following:

1. This is a development beta. Please consider carefully whether you want to upgrade to it. (You can always downgrade back to any previous version)
2. Problems encountered with this firmware may be posted to this thread--please keep the main X1 thread free from clutter regarding bugs on beta firmware.
3. To avoid public misunderstanding, please refrain from posting about bugs and problems with the beta firmware outside this beta firmware discussion thread.

Looking forward to everyone's feedback. :)

Some info on M3U playlists:
1. M3U playlists stored on the SD cards are accessed via Browse Files, not Browse by Category->Playlists.
2. Each entry of the M3U playlist should not reference a drive letter (relative paths).

Here are the recommended methods for creating playlists on the computer:
Method for adapting existing playlists for the X1
The X1 can read playlists with relative pathing and thus is compatible with most existing playlists that do not reference the drive letter at the beginning of each track reference.

Method for creating playlists for the X1 in foobar2000
New playlists compatible with the X1 may be created using foobar and a text editor as follows:
1. Connect the SD card for the X1 to the computer (e.g. by connecting the X1 itself with the SD card inside in Storage USB mode)
2. Load the songs desired from the SD card into a new playlist and save the playlist as a M3U8 file in the root directory of the SD card.

Method for creating playlists for the X1 in iTunes
If using a windows PC for playlist creation, foobar2000 is recommended over iTunes. If using iTunes on the Mac, the custom playlist export program created by fellow X1 user, JeremyLaurenson, is recommended:

If you have more than 5800 songs, you may try updating the media library and see whether the X1 fits them all in its library now with firmware 1.21?

Hi, no updating still leaves 5800 songs. I also note a huge lag when accessing a playlist, admiringly the playlist has approx 900 songs in it, but the X1 hangs for around sixty seconds.

I modded this beta to include the black and white themes. Download links and info in my signature below.

Unfortunately, I'm still unable to move icons around. Is it possible and I'm just doing something wrong? Or do you guys just not want us to move things around? @JamesFiiO @Joe Bloggs

Hope it'll be possible in the future as it'll make for some nice themes

Thanks FiiO, but i have to skip on this one. I´m waiting for the automatically playing through folders feature, just like the X5. I don't care about EQ and i have not experienced any of the issues fixed with this new firmware, which it's a good thing. Keep the excellent work!

Cheers!

Hi clee,

Does the same approach to moving icons around on the X3/X5 not work on the X1?

(unfortunately I'm not very up to date with this firmware modding thing. Er that's an understatement. I haven't had time to touch this topic at all :xf_eek: )

Best regards,
Joe

I pressed a shortcut key in error and my unit has been hanging for over two hours. Any suggestions on how to get out of this? How can I do an reset?

Sorted it, RTFI!

Hi Joe,

Thanks for the response! Admittedly, the X1 is my first and only FiiO player, so I never had the other players to work with. But another member who has made themes for the X3 and X5 (and been able to move icons for them) says he was unable to move icons for the X1 as well.

All I personally did was mess with the X and Y coordinates of the .ini files inside the coordinates folder, so I'm not sure if there is anything else that I need to do.

Thanks again!

Can You do also this?

1. Please make every lettering on the screen bigger, it's unused space enough, esp. the times on the play mode screen. Can You read the elapsed time if You are in movement?
2. On the play mode screen it would be fine to have also the total remaining time of all songs less aside to their counting.
3. The themes should not coloring the covers also on the play mode screen. Looks awfully!
5. Volume adjust should be possible also by screen timeout!

Hi,

I just changed the language of my X1 to german and couldn´t find the "resume mode" settings because the "play mode" option and the "resume rode"- option are both named "Wiedergabemodus" (play mode).

I hope thats not an old and known bug.

The X1 is an nice player but the the 5800 songs limit is unaccaptable so I won´t keep mine and search for an alternative...
