I believe that the 1.5 firmware appeared to be working fine to you simply because you have not used it more days and in various conditions. If you would do that, you would encounter some of the major flaws of this firmware. For example, multipoint connection getting confused and not working properly, LHDC does not sound right, EQ settings getting deleted etc.

I have 2 pairs of the UTWS5. One of them runs the 1.5 firmware and it's getting confused and not working properly. My other pair, I've downgraded to 1.4 firmware and everything works fine, as expected.

I am now considering 2 other solutions:
The Null Audio Nyx+
The New Gen QCC5171 Bluetooth 5.3 Audio Module

I am just considering them, I will not buy anything until the people have tested them.
Both are rebadged Chinese stuff. Yes I had them before. The Nyx+ is QCC5125. The 5171 one dont have any dedicated amp so its sounds worse when paired with hi power demand stuff.

Just got the V2 a week ago and updated to 1.5 right away. Sometimes they reconnect while in the case, and it's annoying. Can anyone confirm if the same thing happens with 1.4?

Yes, unfortunately it does happen.
I have two pairs and using them like this, one exclusively connected to my laptop and the other exclusively connected to my phone.

I try UTWS5, but too small for my EE Odin. Cannot be closed. I hope that FiiO manages to increase the space for headphones in the future..

I can confirm that the UTWS5 connects to my phone while it is inside the case. I have already reported this in previous, recent, posts here. For example, I am listening to music with my FiiO BTR7 or my Qudelix 5K, and the UTWS5 is inside its closed case. Then, then lights light up and the music stops playing on my phone. I check in my Bluetooth Settings and I see the UTWS5, connected.

When it comes to EQ, I never use it, but I definitely believe all the people who report that they lose their EQ settings.

Finally, with multipoint, it is the first time I have used it. I have 2 devices, my phone and my laptop, and I have 2 pairs of the UTWS5. Before the 1.5 firmware, I had one UTWS5 permanently and exclusively paired to my phone and the other UTWS5 to my laptop. After manually installing the 1.5 firmware, I decided to test it. So, I paired both of my UTWS5 with both of my devices. It does not work properly. It reconnects to the wrong device. Whenever I take a pair out of the case, I can hear "Connected" and right after, "Disconnected". Very confusing. So, I reset it back to one pair of the UTWS5 with one device.

And yes, I have factory-reset both of them, unpaired and repaired them, etc

Looking forward to a new firmware, as well.

What is the status on these? are there any revisions that finally resolved the connection issue while in the case? I really wanna try these again but last time I had it I immediately went back to the utws3...

When I put my UTWS5 inside its case and close the lid, my UTWS5 to not reconnect to my device, for example to my phone. That's all I want! When I put my UTWS5 inside its case and close the case, it means that I do not want to listen to it anymore. So, why does it reconnect to my phone? For example, I am listening using my FiiO BTR7 or my Qudelix-5K and the music stops playing because the UTWS5 has reconnected. This should not be happening.

Please try to clean the charging pins of the UTWS5 before putting it back to the charging case to see whether the issue remains? We will also report to the engineer for checking whether they could improve this case in later firmware update.

I am having this issue quite A LOT recently as well. I have to resort to completely unpairing the UTWS5 from my phone.

Whenever I am listening to a bluetooth speaker in my room for example, the UTWS5 magically connects to my phone and steals the connection away from my speaker even though they are sitting inside of the closed case.

Another case is when I am driving in my truck and listening to bluetooth and have the UTWS5 in the case in my pocket. Once again, the UTWS5 magically connects to my phone and steals the connection away and the music in my truck stops.

Super annoying.

I feel like like it really started happening a lot on the newer firmware perhaps.

Okay, thank you for your suggestion, I have just cleaned both of my two UTWS5s according to your method. So far, it seems to work fine, so it does not connect to my phone while it is inside the closed case. I will test it for a week. I sincerely hope and wish it is as simple as this. Cleaning the pins and case to resolve this matter.

PS: On both of my UTWS5, I am using firmware 1.4

firmware 1.5. my presets of EQ once returnet to factory settings. im read it can be when charging box. how i need charging box with or without aerbuds for no lost EQ settings?

@FiiO Well, your cleaning method has worn the gold plating on the contacts, and now, it is a fight getting the UTWS5 to initiate the charging procedure. And even wen I get them to charge, one charges more than the other almost always.
