[FIIO SR11] Streaming Music Receiver

Jun 8, 2024 at 11:56 PM Post #16 of 345
We have contacted streaming media suppliers such as TIDAL, SPOTIFY, QOBUZ, and they have stopped opening API interfaces to third parties. So we cannot directly integrate them into SR11, but users can still use these music apps on their phones through AIRPLAY or DLNA and deliver audio to SR11.

It should be noted that due to the current confusion of the DLNA protocol, after a long period of testing and improvement, we still cannot meet our standards. And we have also tested products from other brands, and the situation is the same.

So, in order to avoid disputes and complaints, we cannot open DLNA at the factory to avoid complaints due to the instability of DLNA. However, in my personal experience, the main issue with DLNA on SR11 currently is the small issue of unsynchronized song selection after prolonged playback.

Therefore, if users are not particularly concerned or do not frequently use DLNA for continuous playback for a long time, they can request firmware that supports DLNA to update themselves through customer service. We hope this is an additional non promised feature provided beyond the selling price.

In this way, we will not mislead users because we hope that the main features supported by our sales page are stable and usable, or at least we have confidence that we can solve them technically in the future.

In addition, DLNA is a very complex protocol, not only for audio, but also for video projection functions collected by Android. However, based on my personal experience, brands like Huawei, Samsung, and Xiaomi with tens of thousands of engineers cannot guarantee stable work. So we don't have much confidence in solving this problem.

Moreover, screen mirroring on mobile phones is not a core and important feature, but for streaming music receivers like SR11, this is the core feature, so we must consider being more cautious.
Thanks, then I'll have to look elsewhere or wait for another solution.

Yes, we will produce both silver and black versions in the next batch of mass production. And under normal circumstances, our products will include a black version.
Thank you! So can I expect it by the end of the summer? I am really into the idea of a mini-stack composed by K11, SR11 and DP13 on top (hopefully that one will have a digital output).

yes. DP13 supports usb audio out , coaxial out, optical out and bluetooth (aptx/aac/aptx hd) out, 4.4 out , 3.5 out and line out, it is the only one which supports these audio output you can find in the world.

Does this not have an analog output? This would be a perfect replacement for AirPlay applications but all of my zoned amps have a simple analog input.

Dear friend,

Hi, SR11 does not have analog output port. You could check whether our K11, K7 could meet your need.

Best regards

Will the SR11 upscale? I am currently using a Raspberry Pi3 with Moode OS, and Moode allows me to configure its output to up to 32/762.

Congratulations on a cool product!

Hi there. My SR11 arrived last night. Very nice looking unit so congratulations on that.

A few questions.
If there is not already, are there plans for an app to control playback ala Volumio with a raspberry pi? As I see it if I want to run Spotify currently I play it on my phone and airplay it to the SR11? Or am I missing something?
Can I plug in a usb device and play music from that? How would I control that from my phone?
Right now it seems the SR11 is a network receiver/preamp - can you clarify for me the actual streaming functions as right now I’m confused - whereas with my raspberry pi + sound card streamer combo I’m totally clear.

Cheers

Dear friend,

Hi, the USB disk support will be added for SR11 in later firmware update. You could use the remote control comes with the SR11 for controling.

Best regards

Dear friend,

Hi, the SR11 does not support upscale function. And we do not have the plan of adding this currently.

Best regards
