I did but it gets stuck at the Start Upgrading step because there is no DFU driver.
Dear user,

Is the DFU icon in the device manger showing a '!'? Did you try to right click this icon and update the driver manaully to check again?

Best regards

Yes, I mentioned that in my initial post and Rexter also asked me. I tried following the normal instructions. I tried manually installing the drivers using the executable in the driver folder. I tried manually pointing windows at the drivers and it says no drivers were found. I then tried all of this with windows driver signing disabled to see if that would do it. No luck.

I'll have to try it on another computer to see what happens.

Dear user,

And you could also try to turn off the anti-virus software and download the firmware file(http://fiio-firmware.fiio.net/BTR5/BTR5_dfu_1.0.6.zip) to check again.

Best regards

sorry if i post in the wrong section
I have a problem with regards to fiio btr5 and firmware 2.0, I updated my fiio btr5 firmware from 1.0.6 version to 2.0 version,
I downloaded the firmware file from here http://www.fiio.me/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=45053&page=1&extra=#pid131105,
also follow the update guide from here https://www.fiio.com/newsinfo/360000.html.

However when I updated the firmware, my fiio btr5 got bricked, I tried to find a solution on the internet then I found a guide about bricked btr3 here http://fiio.me/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=44262, I know that btr3 and btr5 are different, but I did not find a guide for bricked fiio btr5 so it didn't solve the problem, what can I do or should I do

ps: I've sent an email to support@fiio.com but there's no reply yet, thank you

Sorry for late replay, I just wanted to let you know that the method your colleague provided worked well (one that requires draining the fiio btr5 battery) and I would like to thank you very much for the help

The instruction guide for firmware update is broken for me

How to update the firmware for BTR5?

You could check the firmware version in the BTR5 first: Menu(Hold the power button for about 2 seconds in the after turning on)-Version(Click the power button in themenu page)-1.X.X

Firmware download: Click here

Do not update the firmware again is your BTR5 is using the latest firmware.

Please read the instruction carefully, and follow it step by step to upgrade your BTR5!

Before the firmware upgrade:
Download the Firmware Upgrade package( already including the firmware upgrade tool and firmware file)
Upgrade the firmware for the BTR5
1. Unzip the "Firmware upgrade package" , and then enter the unzipped folder (shown like Picture 1.1)

2. Make the BTR5 enter DFU mode, and then connect the BTR5 with the computer by the supplied Type-C USB cable.
How to make BTR5 enter DFU mode: Power on the BTR5 and hold the Multifunctional button (which is in the middle of the Power button and Volume buttons) for about 5 seconds, then the 'pairing' shows up in the BTR5; Hold the Multifunctional button and Volume ”+” button for about 5 seconds, to make the BTR5 enter DFU mode (The BTR5 shows DFU for a few seconds ).

3.Run the FiiOBluetoothDfu program and click 'Start Upgrade' > 'OK', the upgrade program will run automatically

4. Unplug the USB cable and reboot the BTR5, and then you can use it normally.

Ok, thanks for the kind feedback.

Best regards
Hello - also trying to upgrade from 1.0.6 to 2.0 but got an error message saying "a device attached to the system is not functioning". The screen flashed "DFU" before I connected it to the computer.

Sent an email to support and no reply yet.

Wondering also if anyone else had a similar problem...

Dear friend,

We did not meet similar phenomenon before as well. Please try to reset the BTR5 by holding the power buttons for at least 15s then follow the instruction again for check. If the issue still remains, could you please try to find another Windows computer to check?

Best regards

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
