Hi, I am very much interested in the R7.
I have a question regarding the XLR line out connection which I will use to connect my active loudspeakers.
My questions is, will I hear a loud „popping“ noise when I turn on the R7. As I am not using the system very often I will turn off the R7 and the active loudspeakers completely. Does the XLR have some kind of a Relais to prevent this popping sound?

Hi!
I use the XLR output most of the time to Topping Pre90 and further to Emotiva amp. It happened that I switched completely off and on the R7 with Pre90 and the amp on, but no noise detected. I don't think that any relays was fitted on the analog outputs, but most probably the XLR outputs are "true" balanced and no pop noise occur.

I'm very interested in the R7, but in a bunch of reviews they mention that it has between 100 and 400ms, and that is a lot of latency in my point of view.

I doubt it can be - no XMOS chip.

I just got mine yesterday, and it's a really nicely designed unit - unfortunately I can't have my desktop speakers hooked up to it and and my Mac/PC at the same time since the latency is so bad it can't really be used for YouTube/Zoom/Facetime etc. BT and Airplay are also unusable for any video playback sadly.

Correction, I shouldn't say it's unusable, just somewhat annoying. The latency improved considerably when stopped using my USB switch (my other DACs have been okay with this but not the R7).

Accoridng to our test, the delay in USB DAC mode is about 150ms. And yes, the R7 doesn't have XMOS so the delay is a bit higher.

I can bet that this control app will never come. I don't know if it easy or not to implement it, but Tempotec for example sell V6 with control app implemented since the beginning and not promised as a future release.
I start to think that the promises for this app was only a marketing strategy.
For me, yes, was / is a deal breaker and the promises that finally will be implemented convinced me to buy.
There is no more space for cheating and I will come back to my old structure with DAC, HP amp / preamp and network streamer ASAP. Maybe orher fellows will accept R7 as it is.

I have the remote control, but the RC doesn't know to wrote the name of a song or to do shut down completely... And many other things that will make the post too long... As I said in other posts, I listen mostly to speakers and is not comfortable to go forth and back each time when I want to search something.

Ah ok I'm with you - yes that functionality would be nice. Icing on the cake I'd say, but I would stress that this cake is already far better than pretty much most cakes out there!
