Can you turn off the display? I assume the display has a timeout mode like Android, but wanted to confirm. I'd be interested in one of these for the bedside, but need the display and lights to turn off or dim
I am little puzzled, I don't see much traffic in here and reaction to my review.
Makes me wonder if people have understood how insanely innovative and good the R7 is....
We have reported your feedback to the engineer. But since the R7 does not have the XMOS chip, the delay in USB DAC mode may be a bit higher comparing with the products with XMOS chip.
What I'm confused about is that the FiiO M11 Pro also does not have an XMOS chip, yet it still has 50ms lower latency than the R7 (100ms vs 150ms), even though the M11 Pro is an older product, with weaker hardware.
Also as this reviewer mentioned, the latency can be much worse than even the baseline 150ms at times. Like him, I have had multiple times where the latency has randomly spiked to ~450ms for a while, which makes it completely unusable for watching videos and playing games, rather than just an annoyance at its best.
Clearly, there is something wrong with either the hardware itself or the software drivers that interface with the PC (I'm using the latest 5.50.0 release drivers).
I hope you consider implementing an XMOS chip on all your future devices, as without one the USB DAC performance for anything other than listening to music is currently unacceptable.

If I use the RM3 remote control, the color of the knob indicator (audio format) is not displayed correctly. It always stays yellow. If I deactivate RM3, everything is immediately displayed depending on the audio signal. The problem is reproducible.
Android version is pretty irrelevant for music listening.
10 is good, I have players with 12 but I can't say that there is any noticable improvement into streaming apps and listening to music with local players.
Regarding Videos, I can't really comment because I am exclusive to music listening.
I think it depends on how long you plan to keep the device. I read on another forum that some of the music streaming apps on the Fiio M11 pro ( released with Android 7 and never updated will stop working in 2026) ...so yeah Android 10 is already middle of the road for a brand new 2023 device in the long run
Also if high latency is confirmed using wired connection that s quite à bit of a unconvenience.... There are some TV music Channels and concerts that i like..
So even if i bought it for listenting to music first, i also want to enjoy the other features in good condition... It s 2023!

I'm glad that it's safe to leave the R7 on 24/7, so I could replace my alarm clock with it but it doesn't sound like I can remove the Mac Mini from the bedside as I also use it to watch video's. If it does suffer from latency problems then it's a no go.
Damn shame as I wanted to reduce the amount of kit bedside and my Roon server needs upgrading, the current one is a 2012 Mac Mini that is regularly having Roon crash (it's gone again as I type this), so was planning on using this 2018 Mini to replace it.
But I often had to find out that I was using things "abnormally".
So that's everyone's choice.
If people want to use the R7 to have great sound when watching videos, so be it. Even though I do not think that this device's primary scope is to improve your experience when watching videos or playing games. It is to enhance your experience when listening to music and making it comfortable to use.
But if has to b ementioned : should you want to watch videos from your computer and use this as USB DAC, then that's a NO-GO.
I assume there may be a work-around it your computer has a jack that also does Toslink. You can then use the Toslink and use that input instead of USB ?
Of course, even if not using the DAC, an analogue input would may have come in handy in this use case scenario.
Hi, please try go Settings -> System -> Date&time, then turn on/off the " Use 24-hour format " option, then the screensaver should be works.
We will fix it on next update.
