Dear @FiiO , thanks for your answer.
Yes, the Creative Super XFi acts like a DAC plus DSP introducing HRTF for the headphones.
I connected the Fiio M9 directly USB C out to USB C in the Super XFi.
Is there a USB output mode in the Fiio Music app?

@FiiO Checked that also in the Fiio Music settings that USB output was on and tried DoP and D2P but none of it worked. The Super XFi USB device is recognized but no music comes out. Also the Super XFi is putting out a message about its typical message and as it has no own battery it pulls the power from the M9.
Again, the Audeze Mobius headphones with the included DAC does work super good.

Do you know from which source came the files?
Remember. SACD / DSD streams are recorded with a headroom +6dB (above dig. 0 db). A normal music file is clipping over dig. 0dB. In this case, the player must use a pre-gain by -6dB. This is my suggestion for HiRes files such DSD etc. FiiO reported to the engineers for a possible future update.... we will see... I don't know about another issue of a possible clipping. Otherwise you have to downsample the files with normalizing to 0dB....
I'm not sure and I don't know how to check :) would it be useful for me to attempt that downsampling? I'm such a noob that I would probably botch it, but I can try.

If FiiO is on it then I'm chillin, although frankly I'm a little bit surprised that it shipped with this issue.

@FiiO any chance we can get a tool to customize the firmware of the M9?

@FiiO any chance we can get AAC Bluetooth support for Apple? (Send and receive)

@FiiO when will you support DLNA with Mac?
Dear friend,

1. We don't have the tool for customizing the firmware of M9 currently.
2. As a Bluetooth receiver, the M9 support SBC (LDAC to be added with software updates). Other bluetooth codes are not planned currently. We will try to report to the engineer for checking the feasibility.
3. For Mac, you could use the Airplay function instead.

Best regards

@FiiO
Please could you whitelist a Music Casting app to transmit over WiFi as well as receive. That would complete the M9.
Regards
Steve

And Plex. Please please please can we have Plex! :)

Seconded. That would make the M9 a complete package for me too. Would love to be able to transmit to AirPlay device from the M9. @FiiO

Dear friend,

We have recorded the APP you reported.

The engineer will check the feasibility of adding it to the white list first.

But in order to ensure the stability for the M9, most APPs may not be added to the white list.

Best regards

@FiiO any updates on the clipping issue? I posted an example track a page or two ago. No amount of juggling the settings or restarting the device fixes it, but it's not there when the device is in USB DAC mode, so it's likely fixable in software...

Dear friend,

Please send PM or email to us instead. Failed to find the music file you mentioned. Thanks in advanced!

Would an amplifier such as the K3 improve the sound of the M9. I am new to these kind of amplifiers and I looking to get an opinion. Thanks
Dear friend,

If you are talking about our FiiO K3, it is not compatible with the M9.

@JamesFiiO

Fiio link is a killer feature, but would it be possible to have it set ton on by default so I don't have to switch it on every time ?

Thx :)
Dear friend,

Thanks for the kind feedback. In order to save the battery, the FiiO link will turn off after using. We will report to the engineer about that and check for improving in later update.

Best regards

Do you have another usb cable for check? Like our ML06 or CL06?

Just wanted to say thanks again for the replies earlier in this thread regarding Spotify working in offline mode.

After being convinced that this player would be suitable for me, my wife kindly bought one for me as a Christmas present :)

I am really happy with this - my only previous dap was an old 160g iPod classic which is still working but spends its life plugged into the car. I wanted something with a nice interface that would work with my EAC FLAC ripped CD collection plus work well with Spotify and be a decent audio upgrade over the iPod Classic. I am glad to report that it does all of these things - I got some Onenore Quads last year and, to me, these sound much better with the M9 than they ever did with the iPod.

I am still getting to know the player - I have aquestions. Please forgive me if these have been answered already in this very long thread.

1. Is it possible to customise remote buttons for other purposes? My headphones have three buttons which are volume up / down and another to take a phone call. It would be great if I could alter these to skip forward / backwards and pause...... I mainly use my player when I am out walking and the ability to leave the player in a zipped pocket but still be able to skip would be useful for the walkers and runners out there.

2. Is it possible to reorder the apps / remove the icons of those I do not use? My ideal home screen would simply have settings, Spotify and the Fiio music app. It’s not a big deal to have to scroll down but it would be nice if I could change this :)

3. Any chance of adding the Audible app for audiobooks? It’s no big deal if not as audiobooks are small so are not a massive problem being on my 16g iPhone unlike loads of Spotify playlists......

Thanks :)
