Hey raybone, don't even try, 40+ hours aa bateries guy is just like that, he ask for 40+ hours of battery life, but then he says that if X player is over 90 hours, he'll "probably" buy it, I think most of us know where we are, in an audiophile forum and know that high quality (in everything) costs money, and then there's a guy that wants sooo much from a $50 player and he's the only one in his quest for aa batteries that really it's not even funny anymore, he asks for a cheap player that uses aa batteries but wants so much from it, you get what you pay for dude, and everyone here gets it except for just one guy (we know who), and if you are just waiting for your dream player that use your precious aa batteries with it's 40+ hours, hd radio, supreme earbuds, small and big at the same time, with rockbox as ui, 2 card slots, aluminum case and case with clip for under $100 (that you'll "probably" buy), come on buddy, the M3 will cost $50, that's a pizza, wings and a pepsi, just get it or don't, or keep waiting for that aa bateries player that you want so much, I'm sure fiio will do it for you, right? like you said, it's the "least worst", and stop repeating the same over and over about those aa batteries/40+ hours and asking so much for a player that, from an audiophile point of view, costs next to nothing.

I think he might have said he will maybe buy the M3 if it is exactly like the Sony Walkman ZX2, but only if its $55 not $1200, maybe he would consider buying it

back on topic ...anyone know when the unit will be available on Amazon ?

I really like how Fiio has been doing these loaner programs for all of their products for a while. It definitely makes supporting Fiio easier to do.

I'm hoping these go up for sale soon too. With a battery that lasts 24 hours or so I could use this dap next month when I go to Asia. The battery would last the entire flight which is 16 hours or so.

Just ordered one and I also have the X1 so I will let you folks know. For starters, I am not a fan of the scroll wheel and mine is very difficult to press(got worse over time) and the M3 appears to have a much better screen and the battery life appears to be much better as well. If it sounds as good as the X1 I will be happy. I suspect it will sound at least as good as the X1, if not better. Cheers.

@swannie007 never thought of it like that (that it's Sq may equal or surpass x1) if that's the case that might make the x1 obsolete/irrelevant. Hmm. Ok now I'm a lot more interested in the x1 m3 comparison!
