You left out a small but important detail. The R6 Pro II has 2x AK4499EX DACs. The design here results in it having an Octa-DAC like setup for all outputs, even for single ended.

Fixed, thank you! :)

Don't know what to say, as you are referring an old post. It was in beta and never came out. See pics attached from my pixel 7 pro connected to Cayin RU6 DAC and using Apple Music. I can't prove beyond this.
This also matches my experience as well with Android 14… it is very confusing, to be sure.

Two key specs I am very interested in: 1) output impedance 2) noise floor. Any information?

1000mW at 32 ohms
236mW at 300 ohms
That's output power.

We'll have to wait till fiio releases the full specs to get the info he wants.

Following the Q15 and K9 AKM, the M23 once again adopts AKM’s latest flagship DAC combo of AK4191EQ+AK4499EX. Based on brand-new design technology, it features a fully separated digital/analog structure and integrates the newly developed “DWA ROUTING technology”, improving signal-to-noise ratio and reducing various amplitudes of noise to further purify the background, enhance resolution, and deliver a balanced and natural sound.

In addition, the M23 inherits FIIO’s latest patented technology—the Desktop Mode, and it’s also the first FIIO portable player equipped with an independent Type-C power port. Connecting to a fast charging power through the independent power port can activate the “Super High Gain mode”, which can further increase the amplifier’s gain and output power. With an output power of up to 1000mW+1000mW per channel, the M23 can drive high-impedance headphones more easily.

In terms of configuration, functionality, sound quality, and power output, the M23 comprehensively surpasses competitors in the same price range, earning the title of “Hexagonal Warrior.“

it surely is a great dap, no question about this. i only wish fiio wouldnt keep on going with thx amps. they fall short in regards to soundstage, specially depth compared to a lot of the other output stages. its not only me who noticed that. other forums have a lot to read about that. the ones that dont care about soundstage and are more into power and dynamics might like them tho.

I haven't been through the entire specs, but why is this so much less expensive than the M15s?
Because it's a lower tier product in FiiO's lineup?

Hardware wise compared to the M15s : no dedicated Bluetooth chipset, less output power, separate type c for Desktop mode rather than an internal switch, 2 vs 8 channel dac (up to you whether that matters), no curved screen? (I prefer flat anyways).

And no DK3S cooling dock included. Maybe it won't come with a leather case as well.

I'd guess FiiO probably priced it to compete with the Hiby R6 Pro II as well.

Price isn't an indicator of quality though. Things get better and cheaper over time. Like the M15s improving over the M15, trickling down expertise from the M17.

I wouldn't be surprised if the M23 sounds better than the M15s :D.

How much cost is saved on accessories is also a contributing factor.

If not m15s but compared to m11s or m11plus - should be better. Perhaps will be good sounding dap and is cheaper than ibasso dx260. But how it will be compared to such as k9akm or k9pro - because sound for me is what's most important. Either are not cheap - so wanted to put money where i get the most of them. So fiio desktop gear perhaps still be better form sound point.
