The K7 has been so popular ever since it was released. However, some audiophiles are expecting another model with more advanced performance and more functions, while the high-end K9 Pro is less affordable. This time, the desktop DAC and headphone amplifier is coming for you.

The K9 uses two ES9068AS DACs that handle the left and right channels respectively, and a THX AAA 788+ amplifier which is usually applied to desktop devices, giving it an extraordinary 1% undistorted power output up to 780mW at 300Ω and up to 2000mW at 32Ω. No matter if you use low-impedance or high-impedance headphones, the K9 will drive it with aplomb. In addition, thanks to the dual clock management technology, the K9 can easily handle up to 768kHz/32bit PCM and DSD512 audio decoding, as if you were on the scene with the performing artists.

Being the K9 series, the K9 employs the same six-stage audio circuit as used in the high-end desktop DAC/Amp, the K9 Pro. As a fully balanced design, it helps to greatly reduce crosstalk and achieve more authentic sound performance.

In addition, we worked hard on its power supply. For example, the digital and analog portions receive power separately; the linear transformer is paired with 4 massive 4700uF high-capacity and durable capacitors; also, in the audio circuit is power stabilization and filtering. As a result, the K9 is ensured with abundant power for excellent sound performance.

There's more to the K9 than that: QCC5124 Bluetooth chip, LDAC/aptX HD/aptX Adaptive Bluetooth format support, compatible with UAC1.0/UAC2.0, rich inputs and outputs, professional PEQ (Parametric Equalizer), 3 gain levels, multiple intelligent protection systems, etc. comprehensively capable.

There are actually some things the K9 has over the Pro, including support for higher sample rates and bluetooth EQ out of the box.

The Pro has MQA rendering, higher output power particularly in single-ended, a slightly higher signal-to-noise ratio, more digital filters, and a USB-C port.

The main functional differences between K9 and K9Pro:

1. Cancel the Type-C port on the side in K9

2. Cancel MQA support, the highest sampling support of K9 is PCM768k, DSD512; coaxial support DSD64 (DOP)--K9Pro only supports PCM384k, DSD256, and does not support coaxial DSD decoding

3. The RGB indicator changes to cyan blue when playing 48k and below in K9 (K9Pro is dark blue)

4. Support UAC1.0 and UAC2.0: You could switch UAC mode through FiiO Control APP

5. In Bluetooth mode, PEQ is supported in K9.

6. Change the filter settings to 3 in K9 (K9Pro ESS is 6, K9Pro AKM is 7)

I honestly cannot see on paper at least why anyone would buy the K9 Pro when the K9 is so close to being the same, differences are small but the price difference is massive at least it is here in Australia K9 Pro AU$1349 vs K9 AU$799. Top of the range 8 channel ESS ES9038Pro x2 vs top of the range 2 channel ESS ES9068AS x2 slightly more power single ended on the K9 pro, an extra usb c port and MQA support, that does not equal AU$550 extra IMO. At this point in time both the FiiO K7 and K9 offer the best value for money in the FiiO Amp/DAC line up.

The K9 uses a standard IEC lead which is easily available from any electrical store at a very small cost
