Not balanced. It doesn’t seem to matter to the sound quality when fed into a powerful headphone amp. I use the pre-amp out so that I can use the excellent volume control on the K11R2R

Thank you! By pre-amp out you just mean from the back panel, right? Or is there some other pre-amp function? My concern was for compatibility pre-amping the Apos Gremlin, which is balanced inputs only. I'm currently running it from a different unbalanced input with RCA to XLR cables, but I know that isn't recommended.

My BR13 performs well in my living room rig.

However, using my my iPad Pro as a source, where I often switch between sending to the BR13, and receiving on my B&W PX8 headphones. I like the APTx HD most with my headphones.

Sometimes the BR13 gets stuck in "Pause" mode and requires a power off/on reboot. Not easy on the BR13.

So I purchased a cheap in-line toggle switch from Amazon to facilitate an easy power off/on.

I don't think so. I have the same DAC/Amp and performs flawlessly with all my headphones, either low and high impedance and sensitivity.

Yep, it was a shocker for me as well...broke the 'full-size separate desktop rigs needed' for this sound belief.

I haven't tried the amp section yet. I've been using it as a DAC only. But I like the sound of it. Maybe I'll try the amp next time I feel like playing around.

Prepare to be disappointed in the amp section. It’s very weak, imo. I use it only as a DAC. As a DAC, it’s hard to beat!
