Just tried Xelastecs on them and I think they work well together also on the wide nozzle. Sound is even more balanced and smoother. Vocals are brought more forward and intimate. Treble is brought down a bit and bass seems maybe little less impactful. But overall sound is quite good.

I didn't find the spinfit 100/145 that much different than the stock vocal tips.
What size did you use in the Xelastecs? Some people note they feel larger than they measure. I find an 11mm SpinFit fits me, and the Xelastec SS and S are respectively a bit smaller and larger than 11mm.

I use size MS or M. They do seem a little larger than normal. I would recommend getting 1 size smaller. I got the 3-pack variety from Amazon that came in 3 sizes.

If anyone is considering the FD5 and doesn't like missing out on the "new thing", FiiO is releasing the FDX/FD7 very soon. Might be something to check out too.
Damn...I was contemplating on waiting for the FD7 before getting the FD5. Didn't realize it was going to be so soon. Luckily I'm still in my return window, but I'm honestly quite happy with the FD5 already. I can't imagine how much better the FD7 is.

Edit: pure beryllium, alright I'm sold. 😅 Love the new dark grey color also.

Im starting to like this combo more than the B2 Dusk. And that's one of my favorite combos with the 9038S. Soundstage on these beat the Dusk for sure. I think these actually sound better than the Oracle too. Endgame for sure 👍

I have the B2 Dusk as well and until recently owned the UM 3DT (since sold). The FD5 are my favourite by a fair margin and every bit as technically competent as the Dusk and 3DT to my ears.

Tangentially, having recently received the ePro EP00 tips, I can safely say they have supplanted the SpinFit CP145 as my favourite tips for the FD5. Similarly excellent clarity and smoothened lower treble, but more expansive sounding with a richer tonality. I personally liked the CP145 for its clarity and effect of attenuating the lower treble peak, but found it also resulted in a somewhat shallow note weight and robbed the FD5 of some of its robustness in the low-end.

Quick thoughts re. the FD3: very musical and fun (read: emphasised mid-bass and lower-mids); warmer, bassier, with less treble presence than the FD5, but, without question, significantly less resolving and technical than the FD5.

OK, so they're $599.99. [sigh] Twice the price of the FD5, for beryllium and silver.

As Igcubana said in the FD7 thread, it puts Fiio in a new tier he has as yet entertained.

Ok did receive my FD5s. I did listen to these before and was impressed with the soundstage and authoritive bass. But What, where have they gone ....Totally not impressed, poor bass, poor soundstage. The guy before me had these 6 months, one would say these have burned in. If someone has a tip for me I would be glad to hear
