Jul 19, 2024 at 5:16 AM Post #33 of 729
Lots of new info today!

It will be available later in more colours (colors).

It will have analogue line out, SPDIF out (optical by all accounts) and USB out.

It will run from the mains, presumably from a wall wart or brick PSU, as well as the rechargeable battery which is good for 8 hours.

No word on whether the battery is user replaceable (is it @FiiO ?)

It will have Bluetooth transmission including AptX HD. No LDAC.

It will also play files from CD-Rs including FLAC and AAC.
No replaceable battery, it is build in Li battery:L3000:

Good news Fiio! I use cd's on my headphone and desktop room where I spend most of my day... and vinyls on the dinning room when I'm home alone only :D

CD transports tend to be very expensive compared with the difference of quality they give in return, a cheap one sounds pretty close to a very expensive one.
In size are huge for a desktop place between your amp, dacs, computer monitors and speakers... so something like this to connect the digital output to your DAC is great.
I know it's more focused on the portable side which I would skip but if it's silent could play both roles.

I would prefer just a compact cd transport, but nice to offer a new practical CD after your cassette.

The lack of any comment on gapless support by FiiO is discouraging. If it truly doesn’t support gapless playback, I suppose they think it’s better to remain silent and disappoint purchasers than to disclose the limitations of the product up front.

I’m holding out for the sky blue one or the translucent. Would look killer on a desk

Agree about the gapless. Although to me this is more of a fun thing than a serious audiophile tool so it doesn’t bother as much as if it were in my main system.

EDIT:
Yes,DM13 support gapless playback :L3000:

I have confirm with our engineering , we support Continuous playback of songs in concert scenarios, and in sport mode (with ESP switch)

But I want to make sure that what you're saying is the same as what we understand?
Can you describe in detail the "gapless playback" function you are talking about?

Hi. From your description, I think you've got it covered with the DM13. However, as you asked for more detail: 'Gapless Playback' refers to the uninterrupted playback of consecutive audio tracks. No additional 'pre-gap' (which presents itself as a silent 'gap' between tracks) is added to individual CD-DA track data. In other words, the TOC (Table of Contents) is both read and played 'as is'. Where tracks are meant to segue into each other - such as electronic mix albums, classical, live recordings, progressive rock albums etc. - gapless playback is integral to listening enjoyment. Hope this helps!

In that case, it's same with the digital player

DM13 also has this feature :beerchug:

Speaking about “gapples” you should remember that this function does not remove “silence” if it is in the track itself. It is a function that prevents silence caused by loading the next track.
I assume that enabling ESP function can disable “gapples”, because the player needs to load some part of the track into memory.
Also today more photos of the player were published in the net. Finally we can see the connectors on the back side.

yea, i think fiio undershoot, their cassette player was bad, but if they made this really good and even added SACD support to it, it could have been a great tool.

But at its current shape. i think its underwhelming.
