My transparent version got delivered today. Looks much better than the previous blue one I’ve had. The transparent door is thick and solid. Hopefully as robust as the other versions.

Just got mine in today from the people at A2A Sydney in the white and black to match my pro-ject debut carbon evo. All I need now is a good recorder in decent condition and a heap of cassettes to create a duplicate copy of my some 500-ish vinyl records and I will be good to go.

Anyway obligatory photo, the cp13 in white and black paired with my 64audio u4s using the m20 apex module, here listening back to Tape Hiss (Dazmatron Remix) by Cousin Betty. Not just because its song title but this was given as a free inclusion at the purchase of their most recent album on vinyl and is what set me down this path

They're talking about a NR chip that emulates Dolby B/C decoding on tape heads, the CXA1332. This could be one thing to consider!

I noticed these user comments

But unfortunately this chip has been discontinued and we can't use discontinued chips.

I think if there is a next generation Cassette Player, we will add some sound effects to it :beerchug:

Original printed cassettes are sold on Aliexpress. How is their sound quality? Has anyone tried it?

On Aliexpress? I would stay away from them :) The pre-recorded ones are likely to be pirate / counterfeit editions.

For blanks - good currently produced ones are RTM (C-60 and C-90) and Splicit Capture (C-60). The Thomann C-70 ones are using RTM tapes, same with Analog Fidelity from DeBandjesFabriek.
Stay away from TDK D cassettes available in some stores, from different Aliexpress brands, and from National Audio Company cassettes. All the currently made Type II tapes are made by the National Audio Company.
The ATR Magnetics (Type I tapes) don’t have good opinions, but IMHO they are not that terrible either (still, RTM or Splicit are much better in my opinion).

For recording - IMHO the only reasonable currently produced devices are TEAC / Tascam decks - at least they have proper erase heads, not permanent magnets (they produce VERY noisy recordings).

Isn't there a lot of love for Sony's DBB feature?:k701smile::k701smile::k701smile:

If you are thinking of new hardware, please consider adding a dedicated 3.5mm line-out port. Would loved to just connect the unit to an external amp for those times when I need the additional power, or flavor of something like a tube set up. Thanks

You mean a 3.5mm Line-out Port?
I think we will add this function on next model version. :beerchug:
