My F9s came in early. Initial impressions coming but I'll say already these are very, very good.

@Brooko @Hawaiibadboy Hey guys, I've just got mine today and have been listening on the black tips (with the black unit) for most of the day but just switched to the red/black for comparison. IIRC FiiO said the red/blacks we're for bass and the others were for neutral. Have you tried with both? In the short time using the bass ones I'm feeling less fatigue so wonder if this has dampened the 8khz at all?

These felt very bass-lite at first, but I swapped to the largest black tips and adjusted my fit a bit deeper. Now they're definitely not lacking bass. I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to sound but here's what I'm hearing.

• Good sub-bass quantity. Slightly loose though
• Mid-bass can overwhelm male vocals in some songs
• Good detail in the mids. For a V shaped IEM, the mids are really good. Not too recessed.
• Upper mids to treble transition very well.
• Aside from that sibilant peak, treble is fantastic. EQing down 8k like Brooko mentioned helps.
• Soundstage is great. Very wide stage yet there's still great separation and layering. Can't say I've heard a presentation like this before. I like it a lot.
• Amping definitely isn't needed. It's worth noting that these sound very good at low listening volumes.

This definitely feels like the F3's bigger brother both in sound and comfort. The F3 and F9 are some of the most comfortable IEMs I've tried. I really like the single ended cable, especially the earhooks/memory wire.

I have some issues with the sound in the lower frequencies but overall this is good.

Not sure if its dampened 7-8kHz or increased the bass (basically masking some of the lower treble energy)

I know that with the mid/treble tips I couldn't get a decent seal, but with the bass tips I can. If I get a chance, I'll try and measure the differences.
