Hi All 
not sure if this is the right section to ask, but can the Fiio E7 be used to recording an analog line in signal to the computer via the DAC? I know the Nuforce Icon mobile can do this, but I was just wondering if the E7 can too. Basically I would like to be able to use the DAC in reverse and take an analog mic input for skype or something

No.  The E7 does not have an ADC, which is the opposite of a DAC.

As a side note, the ADC in the Icon Mobile is Mono rather than Stereo, and it's mic level rather than line level.  So the Icon Mobile probably doesn't do what you're looking for either.
 
What you probably are looking for is a USB Sound Card, rather than a DAC.  My recommendation for that, for bang-for-the-buck, would be anything by M-Audio. 
 
(One caveat is that M-Audio's Windows Vista drivers are terrible, so if you are using Vista either get a different brand or quit using Vista.)
