Fiio e17 or bravo audio ocean valve?

Yes. DT 990 is a step up from HD 598, leave alone HD 558. DT 990 almost comes in the league of HD 600.

People keep telling me the Beyedynamic 990 Pro 250-Ohms are better. Is this true?

I can see people liking the DT990s better then the HD558s.
I myself use my DT990 Premium 600-Ohm with my Yamaha receiver for cable TV and Blu-ray/DVD movies.
The DT990 are full bass & full treble, which slightly overshadows the mids, but the mids are clear.
And I would assume the Bravo Ocean would do a good job of bring out the best in the DT990s.

The DT990 and HD600 are in no ways alike, what are you even talking about? have you even heard either?

The 990 has very little mid range, an excellent sound stage, good bass and very sharp highs. The HD600 is a very balanced can with a very meaty mid range. They are both good , but it is apples to oranges in comparing the two.

I am not talking of the sound signature. The sound signature is opposite to each other. However, they come in the same league as far as sound technicalities are concerned. Technically they are comparable products with very different sound signatures.

An analogue could be that LCD2, HD 800 and T1 are all in a similar league albeit with very different sound signatures.

 Again, have you heard either?

My guess is no. I've seem him recommend tons of stuff arround these forums lately and he just seem to regurgitate everyone's opinions without actually knowing what he's talking about since he didn't tried said products.

Back on topic, having heard both, I think DT990 and HD 558/598 are on the same league sound wise, but with different presentation. Both are VERY confortable but have a very different presentation. HD558/598 is very smooth while DT990 is much more aggressive and lively. Both have very good soundstage. As for amp, if it's your first unit, I would go with the E17 for its versatility.

Has anybody in this thread heard the 558 and 598 and 990 and e17 and bravo ocean, all of them, I doubt it!

I have at least heard bravo ocean, fiio e11 which is a bit better than e17, 518, 558 and asus stx which is again better than fiio e17. The bravo ocean is in a different league altogether. And you can commonly find comparisons btw hd 600 and dt 990 with different sound signature recommendations, I doubt anybody compares a hd 558 to a dt 990.

Hence proved.

If anyone has a question about that equipment then help them/answer questions.

Please refrain on posting about gear you have never heard, it is against the rules of this forum and frankly you have a ton of false information in your posts.

The ammount of assumptions in this post is to damn high. You can't say Fiio E11 is better than E17, nor you can say Asus STX is better than E17. Also, you can't compare the Bravo Ocean to the E17, since you didn't heard it. You doubt anyone compares HD558 to DT990? Well, I just did in my last post. You know why? Because after TRYING both for a while, I made myself a PERSONAL OPINION. I can't really talk about HD600 vs DT990, since I only own HD650 which isn't HD600, so I just don't compare them. Get it?

Sorry if it sounds harsh, but I hope you get the point.

Hey everyone, just a quick public service announcement here...

Quote:
From Head-Fi.org's Posting Guidelines /img/forum/go_quote.gif

Please don't recommend equipment you don't own or otherwise don't have a reasonable amount of familiarity with. You wouldn't recommend someone a car you've never driven or suggest someone live in a country you haven't been to, so recommending headphones and equipment you haven't owned or used is unhelpful. Even if you've seen the same comments about something from a dozen members, save discussion of that if you're intending to buy it yourself.

Likewise, please avoid trashing equipment you haven't used or aren't familiar with. Having doubts about something you see in a design is fair enough, but to quote Robert Pirsig: "The test of the machine is the satisfaction it gives you. There isn't any other test. If the machine produces tranquility, it's right. If it disturbs you it's wrong until either the machine or your mind is changed." So remember that you can derive satisfaction from listening with any audio gear as much from your appreciation of the design (whether how it looks or how it measures) as much as how it reproduces music.

Thanks!
