I was playing some classical music and when I get to one of the louder parts I get artifacts coming from only the right ear. This does not happen when played directly from my macbook pro, but does when my Fiio E11 is connected. Does anyone know what could cause this?

Also in other types of music I have not noticed these artifacts.

I was thinking it could either be clipping, defect, or worst, the power output on E11 is high enough to reveal a flaw on the headphone you are using.

I thought it may be a flaw in the headphone but they are higher end (D5000) and the same volume off MBP is fine. I think it may be causing the amp to clip, just weird and I havent been able to replicate with other music.

You have nice headphones. I see that D5000 is like 25 ohms, kinda a hard load to push. Maybe the e11 headphone amplifier cant give enough current at the same volume like the Mac can do. I got clipping in some FA011 headphones for reasons like that. Good luck.
