I've had my shure 840s for about 7 months now and they sound great but yesterday I ordered a fiio e10 amp. Now I won't be using these headphones for.portable devices so I didn't get a portable amp. I'm just wondering how much of an improvement I will see with this

You can expect a smoother, fuller sound with better vocal presence and a bass that is punchier.  In other words, expect more of what the 840 does well.

E10 will blow you away, I was too when I bought that sometime ago, didn't expect how good it was for the price I paid
