Whenever I plug my BTR7 into to a phone or PC (i.e. USB connection) it turns the volume down afew stops. Changing the EQ setting causes it to jump back up in volume. Does anyone else notice the same thing? It doesn't do it for bluetooth. I know the volume levels between bluetooth and USB input can be set at different levels, but that doesn't explain why changing the eq setting would change the volume. It happens on PC and phone, so it's not just an android thing.

Hi
When I connect the Fiio BTR7 to my computer and use it in usb DAC mode, what do I need to do to make the device use USB power without charging the battery (to prevent it from degrading if I use it very frequently in that mode), and that the battery does not discharge either, that it simply uses the energy from the usb?
I have already tried to set the charge switch of the BTR7 to off status, but then the battery gets completely discharged very quickly because the device is not powered by USB power.
I think it's designed like this so that when you connect the device to a mobile it doesn't drain the mobile's battery (because it doesn't use usb power), but I don't know how to configure it so that when it's connected to a computer it uses the computer's usb power and I didn't charge and don't discharge the battery, just use the usb power. Is this possible to do?

I asked the same question in here before I bought a BTR7.Hi

There is no battery bypass function with the BTR7. It will use the battery power, continuously discharging it, and then recharge once the battery gets low, when plugged in with USB-C. It cannot be powered only by USB-C. USB-C is only used to charge it and feed it data from your source. You can turn on a feature in FiiO Control app that "protects" the battery by limiting the charge to 80% capacity, so it doesn't degrade the battery as much if the battery is constantly getting fully charged up.
The BTR7 is primarily a portable DAC/amp. It's not meant for long-term desktop use. I've since bought a HiBy FC4 for permanent desktop use because it doesn't have a battery and is only powered by USB-C.

Thank you very much for your quick response. It's exactly what I feared. It's a shame, it's the only thing missing to be perfect. The Qudelix-5K can do it through the app, I'm surprised that Fiio can't do it, I think they don't do it because Fiio doesn't want to, not because it's not possibleI asked the same question in here before I bought a BTR7.

May be power requirements for the dual amp is more than what USB can provide. Just a thought.Thank you very much for your quick response. It's exactly what I feared. I had not thought about it, it could be, I would like Fiio to clarify if something can be done about it or not.May be power requirements for the dual amp is more than what USB can provide. Just a thought.
I am interested in upgrading from BTR5 to BTR7 and have a question on multipoint function. Disappointingly when I have BTR5 connected via bluetooth to both my DAP and phone I have to manually disconnect DAP to answer a phone call. Does BTR7 offer "true" multipoint such that if I have 2 devices connected it will automatically switch from DAP to phone when an incoming call comes in? Thanks for any info.
That would be a nice option to have, but it’s become a defecato standard for such devices (battery operated) to interface with a power source this way. Think along the lines of a laptop that’s also used as a desktop computer.what do I need to do to make the device use USB power without charging the battery (to prevent it from degrading if I use it very frequently in that mode)
The BTR7 does have overcharging failsafes built in.

If you need battery less USB dongle, L&P W2 is a very nice alternative, sounds quite better too, with more details and tighter better controlled bass. Not as powerful though, but enough to drive most IEMs.

Have battery protection activated but somehow BTR7 charged to full 100%, it was stopping at 80% before. Is it some new change?

From the historical after-sales data of our products with batteries, there are very few bad batteries, so this feature is not done.
I have submitted your requirements to the product department and asked them to try to consider this issue subsequently.
Thank you for your support!

This feature is a reference to the phone's battery protection settings, many people say it can protect the battery sold life, so we made this feature. (Although it is not very obvious from the experimental situation)
When you turn on this function in FiiO Control APP, then the battery can only be charged up to 80% to protect the battery.
When you turn off this function, the battery can be charged up to 100%

Not sure what that cheering emoji is supposed to celebrate, but this feature doesn't work as advertised. It used to though, now it just go straight to 100%.Hello
