FiiO Balanced Armature IEMs Discussion & Impressions Thread

Sure. It is a complicated tuning for me, as I consider myself a basshead when it comes to IEMs. I'm using the FA7S as I type, btw. To me, this has a neutral-bright signature. The FD5 is way more engaging than this set. BA bass can be very boring sometimes. On the good side, imaging is spectacular on this set.

The FA7S has taught me more about how our hearing adapts than anything else I have been reading/watching lately. First impression was: "boring A.F.". But persisted. Spent the last 2 weeks wearing them. Last night, pulled the FH9 from the case and it sounded muddy and boomy. :hear_no_evil:

If one is collecting IEMs with different sound signatures, this might be worth to look at. But very tricky to recommend indeed. I'm keeping it though.

I also look forward to the FA19.
FA7s is not boring,is just a relaxed presentation with tons of details on every spectrum.

But dont buy if you want something agressive.

My personal favourite.

This is one of the best earphones that I have tested and I am still wondering why it is so underated.
Your review convinced me to buy the FA7s. Well I read about 10 reviews and there was only one where the reviewer didnt like them. This will be my first IEM, I was going to get the FH7s then I started reading about the FA7s. I figured I might just prefer the FA7s, plus they were about $150 cheaper for me...around $195 US per pair. I should have them within a couple weeks. I got all kinds of gear, but I am excited to get them.

I wanted to ask you something. Do you think the Fiio LC-RD pro cable would work with the FA7s...I know they would would work, but do you think it would throw the nice balace of the FA7s off or would it compliment the sound signature. I thought for as far as aesthetics go with the stainless steel by the MMCX connector on the LC-RD pro cable it would look cool.

High quality pure silver cables don't affect the sound signature of an earphone. They might add more transparency and help with resolution.

I got my FA7s today. These were my first IEM so I dont have frame of reference. I didnt even fool with the tips I put them straight away into my ears. I think they are awesome and for the price I paid makes them even better. As a newbie the box opening was great, it has everything I need. I put the 4.4 balanced connector on. The DAP Shanling M1s is also my first and really I guess just entry level.

I am pretty happy. How many hours do the FA7s need to settle in? I was thinking of getting a iBasso DX260, how much of an improvemnt over the M1s would that be?

I listen to a variety of music, no rap, I do listen to alot of acoustic and female vocals. Ya I think the FA7s sound great.

I continue to enjoy FA7s - I keep coming back to them. I changed my tips to SednaEarfit Xlastec 2, and this resulted in an excellent listening experience in terms of fit and comfort. @Ichos, I am curious - after listening (and rating) newer IEM offerings, including FiiO, does the FA7s still rank as highly for you?

Yes, newer doesn't mean that something good from the past becomes obsolete. Good is always good plus the FA7S has a balanced tuning that not many new offerings have.
