I got sent the Full Music tubes to test them for a weekend from a generous head-fier in return for helping him to purchase some nice Elrog ER tubes.
I can't believe that there are not a lot (if any) real comparisons in how these compare to the bigger boys, so here we go:
They are better than i thought, interestingly. They are like a baby version of the WE's. They certainly sound "full of music".
Extremely nice vocals, decent soundstage, decent dynamics, decent decay that does lingers somewhat, but not as much as with the WE's.
Ok-ish separation / details, probably the worst part, they don't compete compared to the higher tier tubes because of that, music just gets blurred together in busy passages.
Some treble / subbass rolloff, like the WE's.
They are very mid-centric (but never shouty) and have wonderful vocals.
Their tuning is very unoffensive and always pleasant, besides the vocals nothing stands out, but nothing also seems to have a glaring weakness. The bass still sounds very full and they can punch and slam.
In the end they're only the lacking separation / details of the big boys. Funnily, the vocals have a good seperation to everything else, but everything else gets blurred together. The wonderful vocals really pop out though, the FM tubes are quite forward with vocals in comparison to the rest of the frequency. The tubes really excel with instruments like acoustic guitars, string instruments in general (allthough pianos are a bit weaker), and of course vocals.
I then plugged the WE's in. Holy sh!t are they good, i didn't had them in for a bit.
More details and soundstage, better decay. Just... Better overall. More engaging, even sweeter vocals. They just make your heart melt. The separation / detail improvement is instantly noticable and they can also hit a bit harder and deeper. Vocals are also nicely separated, but the other stuff does not get blurred together. Of course, the Elrogs still have better technicalities, but the WE's are also clearly ahead of the FM here.
The WE's just sound like you can easily ride with them in the sunset and they won't let you down, ever.
Sooo, yeah, i don't think there is anything the FM do, that the WE's don't, and the WE's will probably do it better.
Except there is.
One thing, that actually is the reason i will probably buy a pair for myself.
Vocals are even more forward than on the WE's. I recently bought the album "Fellowship - The Bitter Winds" (highly recommended power metal!), and in the whole album the vocals are recorded and mastered
very laid-back. It's one album i fully enjoy more with the Susvara Unveiled compared to the Immanis for that reason, despite the lack of dynamics and bass in comparison to the Raal, just because the vocals on the Unveiled are so much more enjoyable for me and not very distant.
The Full Music tubes bring the vocals even closer to my face, the WE's still sound fantastic, but the Full Music tubes just sound
more right.
The user in question who send them uses a Nutopia as his one and only headphone, and while i have not heard it, i seriously doubt that i could enjoy this pairing. I have heard the OG Utopia and they were
very aggressive in the midrange on anything but relaxing tubes. I know that the Nutopia is a bit more relaxed, but i really think that the FM tubes are pushing the mids forward
again. He just told me that he want to sell his FM tubes, which i totally understand with the Utopia.
So, are these tubes the answer that i searched for with the Immanis?
Most likely, yes, they are. They "fix" the sometimes too distant midrange of the Immanis.
Since i listened to the Immanis, i was searching for mid-forward 300B tubes that are at least decent in technicalities.
Now i also know why a lot of people who heard the Immanis on the Envy with the Performance Edition tubes called me crazy for saying that the vocals are too laid-back on the Immanis. The Full Music tubes really synergize very well with the Immanis, it has over-the-top technicalities, soundstage and details to begin with, so it doesn't get hurt if you take a bit of them away. I honestly can't believe i'm enjoying them this much with the Immanis, but it is what it is.
Thanks

@smutnyjoe Get the basic Elrogs, especially if you have the Full Music tubes already. The Elrogs are also wonderful with ZMF's. Your 1266 will sound
better with WE's than Elrogs though. Maybe look into a Schiit DAC. I found the Holo Spring too soft sounding in hindsight, May is much better.
