Feliks Audio ENVY

Greetings. May I know are there someone here using their Envy to drive IEM's? Or fullsize only? I'm waiting for my Envy perfo next week but my fullsize will arrive on January so I don't have a fullsize now. I have a plan to use my Aroma Jewel temporarily while waiting, but afraid I'll break my IEM due too much power. I hope someone here can help answering my question. Thanks 😁

@RonaldS86 I guess driving IEMs from Envy is a bad idea, especially those easy to drive even on very low gain and volume levels. After all this is the amp that makes Susvara sublime. On the other hand Meze Empys and Focals are also a good match while they are easy to drive. To make long story short I would not do it since you may be dissapointed due to lack of synergy. From IEMs I have only tested Meze Advars once with Envy and this pairing did not work to say at least. Now I am using TT2 outputs for IEMs listening.

Thank you for your input, but more and more new TOTL IEMs need some juice too nowadays 🙂
After asking around, it turns out that there are some people using their IEM on desktop amp too, sometimes for burn in rather than using their DAP. It is temporary solution too actually. I'm still waiting for my ZMF Caldera to arrive on January but my Envy will be here this week so I'll have to use my IEM to enjoy it 😁

What is your favorite driver tube and can you show what the adapter looks like?
Ok, here is what it all looks like! My Quads and adapters rarely get used these days, it’s just such a hassle! Undoubtably there are sound differences, but at this level, it’s more about personal preferences rather than outright technical abilities between tubes. IMHO!

I believe some people have yes. Personally I never heard it on my unit.

I use a Puritan PSM156 more to protect my equipment but I believe that device (and others like it) can remedy such issues.

Oh you're gonna love the Caldera on the Envy once you get that headphone! It'll be worth the wait.

Has anyone had any issues with audible hum from the transformer or tubes with Envy and what fixed the issues?
I have a very low audible hum that I can hear if I put my ear very close to the transformer. If I wasn't looking for it, I wouldn't notice it. No hum through headphones or while music is playing. I contacted Lukasz and he told me that a low level hum when very close to the transformer is normal with large transformers and that if I couldn't hear it through the music or from very far away, it was normal.

I wondered if any eagle eyed among you might have spotted any differences between my two pictures above 😀. They are subtle. But the second picture is a replacement Envy as my first did hum from the transformer. With regards to tubes, any tube can become noisy whether old or new. Fortunately they are in the minority 👍.

Were you able to hear the hum from very far away or through your headphones/speakers? I have a very low hum but I have to put my ear almost on the transformer to hear the hum. Lukasz told me that a very low hum that cannot be heard from a distance and/or through headphones/speakers was normal.

You could hear mine 2 1/2 metres away!

Edit: Mine was an early one.

Not mine, though it wasn’t a Puritan device. I tried lots of things to no avail…it was the transformer.

Sorry but I'm going to bother you guys again. I have a plan to get a DAC for my Envy but don't know which one to pick between Rockna Wavedream or Bartok Apéx. I like a full bodied sound and a musical one than analytical. I have tried Envy Performance with Rockna Wavelight using Elrog 300b Mo and I have to say I like it very much, but Bartok Apéx is kinda like my dream DAC for a long time so my preference leans toward it but I know that Bartok is more reference sounding when compared with Rockna R2R sound. I hope someone here can help me choosing the best pairing. Thanks 😁

At those high end realms it's probably best to try and find a dealer that loans them for a fee for an at home audition.

If you subconciously lean to the Bartok, this would be my choice, if you have to buy blindly. Simply because it has the highest probability of you being content afterwards.

Objectively all of the devices in question are great, so it would come down to personal preference anyways
