Retrias I wanted to take some things back I said on the X30. I'm now listening to it with a lower GB micro SD card (32GB) and I must say it is noticeably better than it initially was. The 64 GB card was really making a loud noise on both units and even more louder on the X30 for some reason. So I cannot recommend 64 GB SDXC cards with these units as it is too noisy IMO. Whats more funny is I tested out 2 64 GB Mirco SDXC cards and one of them actually produced louder noise on the N1 than the other one did.... Bizarre...
Personally the X30 isn't bad and it also can get pretty loud depending on the tracks. So I wanted to give the unit more credit than I did earlier. It actually is better sounding IMO than a Sansa Fuze. It is more lively and dynamic. The N1 on the other hand still appears to be the more detailed player. How it presents the music is more so in an effortless way if you take my meaning (more refined). A sweeter sound. But I have to admit for $30.00 the X30 isn't bad either.
But there is more to the story. The unit I received seems to be defective. I cannot power it on without plugging it into a USB slot and when I power it off it doesn't retain any of the settings I input on the device. I simply don't get it. This is the 3rd time I have received a defective unit from Teclast, in a row....... I pretty much cannot recommend this brand based on these experiences alone. Longevity wise I just don't see the devices lasting very long, their name is an oxymoron lol. . "Because the Tec no seem to last .... In terms of sound quality I'll give it some credit. But the Sflo2 is the better sounding unit IMO. So Teclast hasn't gone back to their roots of yesteryear. Still for a device of it's size, I am still rather impressed with its sound quality as well.
Comparing the N1 and X30 in terms of build quality the N1 is clearly better. It feels sturdier and looks to be of high quality (the feel and finish). While the X30 feels cheap and more fragile. But to be fair can we really expect much more for its asking price?
