I recently got the DVD of Roy Orbison: B&W Night, and that is one hell of a show and a great mix too.

When I saw this thread title I never thought that I would see this album mentioned, but I completely agree with your assessment. "Waiting For Columbus" by Little Feat is hard to beat. It is a phenomenal. You should check out "Live From The American Ballroom" by Donna The Buffalo. It has a very similar feel, a similar kind of music, ambience and sound quality to "Waiting For Columbus." Both are very underrated albums and underrated bands.

i cant really decide between three.

Alice in Chains - MTV Unplugged for sheer quality recording, and performance was excellent as well.

Patricia Barber - Live: A Fortnight in France - same as above, not quite as good recording perhaps.

Iron Maiden - Rock in Rio: have never come across another live show as powerful as this, their latest live release just cannot compare. I dont know what it is about it exactly - I mean even some of the later songs arent overly excellent performance wise (being critical). Several of the guitar solos i just cannot get over, goosebumps every time!

Janick on Ghost of the Navigator and Brave New World =

and the Duo on the Trooper!

Finally. Metallica's S&M is in my opinion the greatest live CD of all time.
MTV Unplugged: Nirvana- Alice in chains
Heroes del Silencio: Para Siempre (Amazing live performance)

Without a doubt, The Who "Live At Leeds."

After that, I love:
Lou Reed "Rock and Roll Animal" (Awesome guitar)
James Brown "Live At The Apollo"
"Frampton Comes Alive" (I'm not embarassed to admit it).
Neil Young "Live Rust"
Grateful Dead "Europe '72"
Rolling Stones "Get Yer Ya Ya's Out"
Rory Gallagher "Live in Europe" and "Irish Tour"
Cream "Wheels of Fire"
Talking Heads "The Name of This Band Is Talking Heads"
Bob Dylan "Before The Flood"

I also have quite a few, but I'll try my best to keep it short.

MC5 - Kick Out The Jams
Metallica - Live S***
Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes - Live at the Greek
AC/DC - If You Want Blood You've Got It
Black Sabbath - Past Lives
Johnny Cash - At San Quentin

Special mention goes to Rage Against the Machine's self-titled DVD, which has some great performances both performance-wise and visually (I swear that de la Rocha's head was about to pop at the end of "Freedom").
