FATfreq Impressions Thread - Bass Cannons and More

I'm sure the prototype modules will take us by surprise. Would definitely make the GM more interesting value-wise than the MSE.

Also, it's safe but still exciting nonetheless 😊 as with all well-done U/V shape tunings.

Hahha interesting one liner. I do agree it’s safe tuning but for this price range safe tuning isn’t enough!

I did roll quite tips though after getting the MSE. With the divinus velvet it was to me just nice. I did also roll some tip for the GM, but I can’t get anything that excites me over what I had haha.

Maybe that’s why GM didn’t click with me. Normal wasn’t what I’m aiming since I have other iem that does it.
I am in the same camp as you where MSE>GM. It was so good that I decided to go CIEM with the MSE and never looked back!

Yah and thats what make this hobby much interesting. Something something better even on the same line can sound better to some people.

I won't go CIEMS since I kinda like the fun of rolling tips. Its kinda like the flavour of the day tweak at times haha.

I would love to get CIEMs the day I find a set worthy of it. The only thing that drives me away is going through the hassle of finding an audiologist who can get good impressions. It was a nightmare for me last time that required multiple appointments and switching audiologists.

Got my scarlet mini this week after waiting about 90 days. They sound great. Lots of bass, but also really good resolution. I was skeptical because of my experience with other basshead iems (with the exception of z1r, which has great resolution). These are better than iema like the legend X or bravado, for example. These are keepers for me. Pairing them with my ifi go pods. Super fun wireless iem option.

Edit: they need a bit of power, so not a great pairing with the go pods after all.

Just posted a review on this site (you can read it here), but I also thought to share some high level comments in this thread. Again, thanks to @Damz87 for coordinating with the Fatfreq team to bring the Scarlet Mini on the Australian Head-Fi Tour.

Overall, I felt the Scarlet Mini lived up to the hype - it delivers tight/controlled bass and I didn’t need to resort to EQ, tip rolling or anything extraordinary to achieve a visceral level of performance - literally plug and play.

What also impressed me was the soundstage; typically, resorting to EQ to reach the same lows comes at the expense of recessed or muddied vocals. Not so with the Scarlet Mini; although the emphasis is on sub-bass, vocals were forward and I was able to enjoy them at the same time as the bass slam, seemingly without compromise.

I can’t wait to get my hands on my own set soon!
