FATfreq Impressions Thread - Bass Cannons and More

The MM are pretty much subbass and kind of only subbass. So you get that physicality, but they still sound kind of thin overall, which is sometimes a little weird considering just how bassy they are.
According to the graph, the se has even less mid bass. But can't go by graphs all the time

I havent heard the SE, so I cant compare. I just know that I was actually kind of surprised at how the mini sounded. I hear something is bassy, and I think oh itll be lush and warm. And thats just not the case. Its almost like they are a bright IEM that also happens to have a huge amount of subbass. So while I think they are a really fun set with a fairly unique tuning I would just caution anyone who is more interested in that lush warm sound, that I think comes more from middbass and more full mids.

That sounds like mest mk2. Good sub bass but light on mid bass imho. It helps with clarity at the expense of note weight.

I hope that they come out with a more warm( 3more dB 150-200 Hz), lush and less bright/smoother treble (less 2-5k peaks please) version one day.

FatFreq V2 is or soon will be available (according to Reddit). New color (who cares?), new stock 4.4mm cable (I do care). Tuning is the same I assume.

Attention FatFreq, you are not making you friends by adding a grill on the nozzle and upgrading the stock cable on such a short notice. Want to built a solid and sustainable customer base? Think before doing such things... your marketing strategy is going the wrong way boys & girls, excepting if you want to milk your customers and generate high profits as quick as possible, at your own risks. Your products are good and manufactured with care and attention. You mean it good, but don't get excited too much. If you can afford it, hire a serious PR specialist or someone in your network who can do the task properly. Rant over.

Wholeheartedly agree.

Going by Crinacle's graphs, there very well might be tuning changes with the V2 as there are on other V2s Fatfreq has made.

Another observation is that they have a bunch of earphone models (22 since 2016). That gives me the impression they move at a pretty rapid pace which is awesome but will no doubt trigger fomo with some folks (me included).

Thanks for the addition about a potential different tuning in the V2. I hope FatFreq will add a little more midbass in the new MM’s iteration in that case.

My above rant aside, I like my set very much.

FatFreq told me in an e-mail
"The MMV2 is 490USD. the MMV2 is a monitor with improved bass and treble response from the V1."

Then they shared a brochure with me...

To me, the MM was already treble heavy. You can see my collection below and the MM has the most treble of them all, and I find it a bit too much. Hope they listen to feedback and make at least one version with a warm signature.

Just got confirmation from FatFreq that V2 will be available for pre-order beginning of 2023.

I have just received my FatFreq Maestro Mini ( 7 days from Order to Reception in Europe). I used to have an IKKO OH10 as EDM IEM. I have to specify that I am using it wirelessly with a Shure TWS2 adapter (and a MMCX to 2 PIN Adapter) and AZLA SednaEarfit XELASTEC tips which does perfectly stick and seal the ear internal conduct. I am not an audiophile so I will give my opinion with my simple EDM lover simple words.
I will not comment the box as I am using the Shure TWS2 one. Those IEMs are light weighted and this is very good news for me as the IKKO OH10 as very heavy which can be annoying on long listening sessions. The design and the "finish" of the IEMs are good and they do perfectly fit my average man ears and not moving during 1hour eliptic sessions. So, again, quite happy on that point. I will not comment the cable as I am not using.
Regarding the sound now. My first impression is that the sound is much more neutral than the IKKO OH10. I would say that the QUALITY of the basses of the MM is better of the IKKO with a very nice sub bass presence. Nevertheless as the sound seems to me more neutral, the QUANTITY of basses is less than the IKKO OH10. Then I am not the best one to judge on the mids and the trebble. Trebble sounds very good vs the IKKO which have a "tsssss" trebble characteristich. Vocals are clear on the MM and mids are more than satisfying more me. The soundstage is satisfying again. I have done the comparison with one IEM of each in each ear.

Now is coming the interesting thing. The Shure TWS2 allows to nice EQed the IEM. And I do think that is were the MM are becoming very interesting. I have boosted the low frequencies and reajusted the mids. The basses are very good and deep and the sound is very good for EDM (soory for the spanish)

Idk if they decided against this but it's been announced that the V2 will up the bass a few db and extend the treble. I'm not surprised about the cable as they upgraded the SE too

The next iteration of the MM cable will get the SE` treatment it seems.
