Here's the foobar's default search pattern for album art, actually:

Meaning folder.jpg would work in foobar but album.jpg wouldn't, unless your album is called "album".
But yeah, shouldn't be that hard to look for embedded art first and use the pattern above second.

Ah yes, that's the actual pattern. If I am not wrong, Rockbox follows similar pattern too

we will keep improving the cover support in the future, so X3 can supports not matter it is embedded or extra cover, or it is folder cover. but plz give us time to develop the firmware.

Thanks James, you are doing great so far! ^_^

My post over the other thread was skipped over somehow, here's a repost:

Hey James, I have a bug to report, not sure if this is the right thread but here goes.

For my multi-disc albums, I usually name my files as 1.01 [song title], 1.02 [song title], ... , 2.01 [song title] and so on. It goes %discnumber% then %tracknumber% with a dot in between. All files will be put into a single folder for the whole album.

These files are not sorted correctly on the X3 (using firmware 1.25EN). For example, Dream Theater's Live Scenes from New York, on the X3 it goes: 1.10, 1.03, 1.01, 1.04 to 1.09, 1.02, 2.03, 2.01, 2.02, ...

The sorting appears to be random, varying from album to album. On another album of mine, it goes 1.02, 1.04 to 1.15, 1.01, 1.16 to 1.24, 1.03, 2.25, 2.15, 2.01, ....

Hope that this could be fixed, thanks!

BTW, we have confirmed that the X3 has limited quantity for the total sound tracks under one folder. that is why some user have problem when they put lots of sound tracks under one folder.

Hi James,
is this a limit on the number of files or on number of folders ? And which is the actual limit value ?
Thanks

Hi, X3 encountred problem with gapless playback. This problem can be in same case solved with "Cuetools". You can download from here: http://www.cuetools.net/wiki/Main_Page. With this tool you can from separate tracks create a new image+cuesheet.
FiiOX3 can play this files without gaps also in mode "Browse file" and not only in mode "Category=Album."
Unfortunately HiRes formats are not supported.
Personally tested.

What is the limit?

I am using folders as a workaround for lack of playlist support. But I hope you will provide for playlists in future firmware upgrades.

James,
Will I be able to use X3's EQ in its line output? Sorry if I miss something. Thank you!

sorry not, people will say it is not a real line out if we do that.

Hi James,

I just bought a X3 yesterday and it is impressive. its sound is great. I love it. it is easy on operations.

I would like to suggest some items. hope they could come ture by updating FW later.

current FW: 1.25EN
issue:
after powering on, pressed play; X3 has "POP" sound before the first song playing. it is no this sound from "pause" back to playing. it seems like that X3 power on a module.  it makes me un-comfortable everytime.  can this be removed in next FW update?

I am playing music with Foobar2k
can these functions be added ?
1. crossfeed function. ref http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=90764
2. crossfader
3. dynamic range compression http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_range_compression
4. Auto change folder
5. wake-up
6. date/time
7. an expected time to full charged when charging. an expected time to the battery life.
8. custom wall paper

**** if few of these affect the sound quality; I would like to stop it. I support sound quality first.

Note that date/time requires a RTC which is a hardware change.

James,

I suggest to put little prominences at the buttons on the silicon cover for operations without eyes.

I saw a black silicon cover in X3 review on some web site, where can I get one?

for the operations:

is it possible to change a folder with pressing a short click and a long click on up/down buttons? this is help me a lot on operations w/o eyes too.

sorry I knew your team is busy on debug now. I may have too many asks. but I want X3 is more firendly that people can enjoy it very well.

I love its good sound.
