Hello,
I've received my player yesterday. It sounds very good. Is it possible to display the album cover when the picture file named folder.jpg remain in the folder? Or possible in the future?
Best regards from germany

sure, X3 already supports  extra cover files when playing all the music format except the mp3 format. be sure the cover file must has the same file name and in Jpg, bmp or png format

I have a suggestion. Since the vol+ and vol- buttons are unused while browsing files, could you consider to add a fast scrolling function? If we could scroll 10 files at once with these buttons it would make easier to browse through the songs for those of us who chose to stick with a single HUGE directory. This could be a nice palliative until the quirks with the file browser on 64GB cards are resolved and the ID3 tags on m4a files are finally readable.

sounds good but we may let the vol+ and vol- work when it is not assigned for other function. means you can adjust the volume in main menu or other sub menu.

The poster wants to put a jpg named "folder.jpg" inside an album directory and have it displayed for every song of that album. Same behavior as in foobar2000, Rockbox, PowerAmp, Neutron MP, Squeezebox, ...
To achieve this now with the X3, one has to put in a jpg file for each song with the name of that song. So an album with 10 tracks would have 10 jpg files showing the same picture. That's sort of redundant, isn't it? :wink:

that is how i have done my files for years. on this one, i don't care about space. for me it looks much neater. and this works for me james on various daps! so while you may want to include the folder.jpg  as a new fw feature, please do not remove what we currently have. ok?

yes, the future firmwre will support artist---album

That sounds absolutely fantastic!

What i'm hoping to see in the end in the Category view is something like this

  1. Artist -> Albums -> tracks
  2. Album Artist -> Albums -> tracks

Sorting by album alone seems like a hassle, as a player with a 64GB microSD and 8GB internal space, willl have LOTS of albums, and therefore almost impossible to browse in pure album view. I keep pushing the Album Artist tag, as it gives the possibility to keep compilations sorted by main artist, and XXXXartist Feat. YYYYartist will still be sorted under XXXXartist, and not as a new artist.

Mostlikely useless info, but i'm using this in Foobar with this string: %album artist%|%album%|[[%discnumber%.]%tracknumber%. ][%track artist% - ]%title%

Thanks you! That's what I wish, but I couldn't describe it. I use the Logitech Media Server for my squeezeboxes and i have so many directorys with flac files with one album cover (folder.jpg) for all files of this Album.

Hi James,
first of all thanks for following up this thread and for being so close to your customers. That's amazing.

Based on the last few pages, it seems that the latest firmware update is going to address most of the "urgent" requests (tags for ALAC; category browsing for Artist--> Album; hopefully the CLICK sound between song; indexing issues for huge folders), which is great... and super fast !

Please find here few suggestions for improving even further this amazing player (all nice to have, definitely not critical):
- In the "Playing" screen (Lyrics/Tag display view) show the Track number (value from the ID3 tag)
- In the "Playing" screen (Lyrics/Tag display view) show the total number of tracks in the folder (or in the album). It would be great to combine it with the previous point, so you can have "Now Playing" track 3/12 (3rd track out of 12)
- In the "Playing" screen (Lyrics/Tag display view) show the Album name (value from the ID3 tag)
- Not sure if it requires any specific Hardware / Firmware tweak, but it would be nice to have a clock displaying the actual time in the status bar

Hi,
just bought The Rolling Stones - Grrr! from HDTracks, put it on X3 internal memory, files are indexed except track 08, X3 BUG !!

Edit : just renamed the folder, reindex and then it's indexed

If I were less lazy, I'll write a tool to check what's on X3 internal memory and SD card and compare it to what is indexed on the sqllite db on internal memory. I wonder how many files are not indexed and why !

James,

Thank you for your hard work on X3. Is it possible to add parametric EQ to X3 through firmware update?

Parametric EQ can nullify specific peaks/valleys of headphones (rather than changing entire treble like what the current treble EQ does). Some headphones, such as your Beyer DT880s (which have a bell-shaped treble peak centered at around 8500 Hz), would benefit from parametric EQ as much as the existing treble/bass EQ.
