In order to facilitate direct communication with audiophiles outside of the Chinese mainland, I created this thread. On the one hand, it is to post some content about the new products and company news of FIIO in the future. On the other hand, it is also convenient to directly listen to everyone's criticism and suggestions on FIIO, so that we can improve our work. Of course, it is also a small service window. However, please understand that if the problem can be solved through normal after-sales channels, try not to feedback through this channel, otherwise I will be too busy and it will also delay everyone's problem-solving efficiency.

Conceptual design of a retro pure sound player MP3

The model is called “MP3”, with a retro style. The UI uses a nostalgic retro theme, the aluminum alloy body is champagne gold, and the back cover is fire maple solid wood.

The display screen is a 4-inch IPS screen, R2R DAC, with 3.5 | 4.4, with an output power of 300mW sufficient to drive all earplugs. It uses a pure sound system and does not support WIFI.

In short, from the inside out, simple and clean

This is a potentially really useful thread, allowing for feedback that isn't necessarily related to any specific FiiO product. 👍

My question is how FiiO is going to position itself re. the EU legislation on batteries in portable devices having to be user-replaceable, effective 2027 ?

https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/reg/2023/1542/oj (relevant article: Article 11)

or the consolidated updated version:

https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX:02023R1542-20240718 (relevant article: Article 11)

I consciously avoid buying tech that doesn't have user-replaceable batteries, although I can't always avoid it. I will be in the market for buying a new DAP in the near future, but I have no intention of paying good money for any portable device that can't have its serviceable life easily extended by something as essential as the user replacing an aging rechargeable battery when that is all that is wrong with it. This on grounds of both cost as well as not wanting to waste valuable resources (which is why the EU legislation was adopted).

That's a shame. I'm not interested in Android DAPs. This concept is beautiful and the features are interesting, I would like it and I would be ready to buy!

Yes, we have noticed the relevant information for a long time and have also started to make some attempts. For example, our Bluetooth headphone amplifier RETRO NANO uses replaceable batteries, and our upcoming M27 also uses replaceable batteries. In the future, more products will adopt replaceable battery designs.

A desktop amplifier and passive speakers

Things have become more and more interesting. In fact, even if it is not really turned into a product, it is still quite impressive as a rendering effect.

Today I bring you a desktop amplifier and a retro passive speaker.

It can be combined with HIFI radio tuner, pure Class A headphone amplifiers, R2R tube decoders, CD turntables, and digital broadcasting to form a desktop system.

We will also design desktop card holders, desktop earphone amplifiers, desktop equalizers, and add the existing desktop vinyl turntable. Basically, retro old audio products can be completed.

In addition, it should be made clear that they are all for fun, because these old HIFI equipment have basically disappeared into the long river of history, and it is very difficult to resume production from an economic perspective.

However, with the development of technology, the integration of products is becoming higher and higher, and the design and functions are increasingly limited by the supply chain and core solution providers, resulting in the increasing homogenization of modern digital electronic products. It's like the past when mobile phones were diverse in various forms, but now there are only a few big brands left, and the differences between them are very small.

So, do your best!

Thank you for this thread, this is an amazing opportunity. I've been a fan of Fiio products for a while, so this is a great chance to ask for a few items that are missing (for me) in your product line.
  • Your Dongle DAC selection is amazing, and the top of the line KA17 is a great device. However, i would loved to see an AKM version of the KA17 instead of the ESS. I know you understand the value of the 2 offerings on flagship devices, specially because my beloved K9 also came in ESS and AKM versions. I understand the CS DAC chips are super efficient and thats why they get used in the majority of the lineup, but if you look around i believe only Shanling has a AKM based dongle.
  • Also a R2R Dongle would be amazing but i know those are already coming later down the year and im super excited for those. Specially the ones with wood accents to match the Fiio FT1 as the perfect office companion.
  • As for Desktop Devices, i love the K9, i love the K11R2R, and i love the K17. However, something that im missing is the "Stack" possibility of several devices. Take inspiration on what Schiit does with their lineup. I want to see something like the upcoming WARMER and the K17 but with the same dimensions so they can be stacked. If i want to play games or music around i can use the K17, and if im missing some extra warmth and cozyness i can just flick the WARMER on and change headphones from plug. All convenient.
  • Same for the K11R2R or the Upcoming K13R2R, would be good to have a matching smaller tube-amp to mix-and-match with them (like XDUUO offers).
  • Another request for the desktop devices or dongles, is to make the Fiio App compattible with Linux. This doesnt mean you need to support the whole app, but JDS Labs did it cleverly by making the app a web-app that runs in the browser. This makes it so i can use their EQ in Windows/Mac/Linux without problems. The new Fiio EQ on the K17 is amazing and i would like to use it more on my main PC (linux).
  • As for headphones i think you guys are killing it. The FT1 was a homerun, the new FT7 looks amazing and it seems you learned a lot from developing the FT3 and FT5 before. Looking forward to the FT1 successor in a higher price bracket. The build quality of the FT7, on a very warm, bassy closedback. The current tops of that dynamic driver closebacks are either ZMF Atrium Closed, TH900Mk2, Sony Z1R or Denon AH-D9200. In planars its only the Dan Clarke E3 or the Meze Lyric 2. Not a lot of competition for the High End Closed back that doesnt suck.
  • As for IEMs i am a huge fan of Single Dynamic configuration. The FD11 its a GENIUS product, and the FD15 was slightly dissapointing because it was too light on the bass. I am hoping the upcoming FD17 its like a superior version of the FD11 with better build and bigger soundstage.
    • Also bring back the amazing IEM carrying case the FD7/FD5 had! Even as extras!
  • And finally for DAPs, i dont like Android Daps mostly because overtime they will just expire and get old, slow and unsupported. But the pure music DAP is what i love and the new Snowsky Echo Mini is a homerun. I have bought several in different colors. What i would love to see is the "Step up" version. Basically an Echo Mini, with the build quality and power of the M21/M23. Even better if it can be used as a portable dongle too in passthrough (desktop) mode.

Thank you for reading, have a great day and good luck with the launch of the FT7.

Like many I'm fully convinced.
Right now every DAP that reach the market get the full features, Wifi, BT, etc
yet there's a cost as they're less and less portable. I got myself love for transportable brick but lack a portable solution.
Lotoo and Sony seems to be few of the solution without sound quality loss.
This R2R plus 256go inside would be the perfect response with hope that battery get extended too.

Can you talk a bit more about your R2R plans without revealing specific products? Shifting over from chip-based DACs to an in-house R2R ladder for decoding is a big deal in terms of sound/engineering changes and from a product release schedule...
