It's a bit of a ramble, hope you all enjoy it and feel free to add your own experiences in having the urge to throw in the towel and sell off all your gear, thanks.

I've been having this urge lately and up until today i figured it would happen sooner than later. I've started taking courses again in College to finish up my long-delayed Bachelor's degree so i don't have much time to listen to music other than my Zen Micro during my commute to work and school (and i've found my portable rig to be boring lately!).

Well, today i came home from spending the weekend at the gf's (like i always do) and i decided to turn on my cd-25 and HEV70 amp and run a cd for a while to warm it up. After 5+ hrs i popped in 311's "Soundsystem," which is a hdcd, and hot damn....sonic bliss! The Baby O's have never sounded better! Warm, musical, non-fatiguing and a lot of pumping bass, just like the way i remembered them back at a head-fi meet at Grado Labs in 2003 when Boze was running them through a 007t and some fancy source.

Now i'm starting to think of selling off the Headroom coda/overture combo to fund some upgrades to my cd-25 and get that Stax 007t amp pronto as i find myself immersed in these cans more than ever...what the hell was i thinking?!

Do i really need two headphone rigs in my bedroom? Nah, i do love my HD-580's a lot, but they have been collecting dust since last Summer.

The Baby O's will always hold a special place in my heart as a pair of headphones...errr...electrostatic headphones that i thought i would never be able to obtain after the head-fi meet, i'm sure Ian recalls how much i liked them, moreso than the R10's and any other can at the meet! The Baby O's just do something with that midrange that's so liquid...yes...liquid. It's sultry, enticing...just grabs your attention and pulls you in, revealing the sonics that are interwoven in a recording and usually pushed aside by other headphones i own that are too colored one way or the other. I recall a few years back when Tuberoller loaned me a vintage Stax SR44 electret amp+cans. Those things, fwiw, had amazing midrange as Tube had mentioned. Seductive, liquid, revealing....yes, to have this synergy that was missing from my rig at that time and thanks to Tuberoller i started understanding what i missing out on and then the head-fi with the Baby O's cemented my conviction to go forward and seek out the Baby O's (only took 14 or so months).

Funny how when i look back and see the gear i have accumilated and wonder at how fortunate i am to have a rig that treats my ears right. Especially with all the hell i went through in obtaining the HE60/HEV70's (ie. the buyer was taking his sweet time in shipping them after payment was rec'd). That was a hectic few weeks, looking back i doubt i would have done it again, but what the hell, here's to look towards the future with a kick ass pair of electrostatic headphones that rock my world and bring music, the only obsession that has stuck with me all these years, to perfection.

(inserts HE60 smilie)

Hey, i got a bone to pick...when the hell am i gonna get a HE60 smilie?

I've thought about selling my home rig quite a bit lately, but then I listen to it and I remember why I bought it in the first place!

After a recent promotion at work I now put in 60+ hours, so I don't get much time for listening. Sometimes I want to sell it, and other times I don't. Mr. Undecided

yeah! I feel the same way, like tonight, after i listened to 311's cd in its entirety i definitely cannot see myself ever selling my Baby O's unless i fell on hard times.

Due to sheer bad luck, I haven't heard a decent system in months. The idea of selling my meager setup is getting stronger, especially now that I spend less time sitting in front of the screen. The prospect of new toys such as cams, games, skateboards, portable vid players, etc is so damn enticing. At a crossroads atm.

I don't think I would ever sell my stuff off completely. I am currently selling some of my home stuff to upgrade the portable stuff I seem to be using more lately. I am trying to realize that on my budget I only "need" 1 home headphone and amp and 1 portable headphone and amp.

If you're considering doing a lot of commuting, then there's no better time to build up that portable system

You've got overture/coda already so you're nearly set. I'd sell off the 580 and anything "extraneous". I've modded my HEV70 and sound has improved a bit. Try and get that 007t though. The HEV70 is not so great....

mm back to the topic of things. i've thought about selling somethings but i've done a lot of researching and modding and got super deals so everything seems to have a special place in my heart

Earlier this month, I was thinking real hard about downgrading my whole rig since I really haven't been able to spend too much time with it for a good month or two. Then I spent most of the past two weekends avoiding civilization and listened to my system (gotta love my uber-long extension cable) and remembered why I've spent time and money putting this thing together.

I've already ended up selling a part of my audio equipment setup so I can buy groceries. My boss is totally screwing me around; he said I could come back to work, but now the other manager is claiming that they have a full staff and I don't know what I'm going to do. If I'm not working within the next few days, you guys might see my entire home system on the block.

Music is great but I can't live without a house.

yeah, forget time restrictions. financial restrictions usually are the kicker.
