Ten minutes ago I was enjoying one of the better listening sessions I've had since arriving at college. The lights were off, no sounds could be heard, prime conditions for a musical journey. Fifteen minutes into one of my favorite albums, STS9 `Artifact`, and the roomy barges in laughing, flips on all the lights, blares the tv, cranks mainstream hip-hop on his mono speaker and starts singin along. MY EUPHORIA WAS DISRUPTED

Does anyone know how I feel?? How did you deal with it?

You need to deal with your roommate. You can't expect him not to turn on the lights, but you can expect him to wear phones as well. From there, get a sleepmask or something to cover your eyes.

Everyone should have such a place in mind, in case of need. I have at least two locations. Old, empty cisterns at long-abandoned homesites are excellent.
