I think the ER6i's are perfection. No full sized can can come close.

I hope you got a good flame suit with that comment

I would have to disagree with the K701 suggestions. I also have a pair of ER-6 and their sound is much more upfront and lively than the AKGs. They lack the AKG's shimmering shimmering treble and high frequency extension though.

K701, except the K701 extends higher and lower.

Just a side note: though it is a clip-on, I find Yuin G1 to sound quite Ety-ish (up-front flat sound w/ a highlighted treble).

OK, probably I'd go the K701way in future. Many people recommend it there and I love AKG sound.
I just remembered that I had a pair of K240DF and it seems like they sounded very close to ER-6, except Etys are a bit less grainy and more extended in low end.

I don't know man, the 701's are a steal! You can find them on amazon for cheap. Do you have an amp to properly power a set of larger cans?

I have an amp, it can drive anything from speakers to 600 Ohm headphones, but I'm not fully content with it. Currently I'm going to assemble a tube SE transformer-coupled amplifier.

I'd also say the K701, but the ER4S are slightly more detailed sounding, but the K701 goes deeper and hits harder.
