So a *good* attenuator (like Shure's or UE's) shouldn't degrade the sound straight out my Kenwood player.
Some guys, however, have tried to use the radioshack attenuator: it didn't work so good. I can't find the topic, but it was discussed in the Portable forum. UE and Shure adaptors, though, were said to have behaved well. Now, thanks to your explanation, I can understand the reasons.
Ah, also: how can the attenuator reproduce the ground? Is it inside the jack? Or will there be any offset?
