These appear to be the best choices available to me at my local Apple store. Apple In-Ears are $79, HF2 are I think $179, and UE SF 4vi are $149.

Are the others worth almost twice the cost of the Apple In-Ears?

if you prefer detail get HF2
if you prefer an overall bassier sound than go with UE
if you prefer wasting your money get Apple.

Ignore the Apple-basher.

IMO if you're going to be buying from the Apple store, go for the Apple IEMs, because they are the best deal. I'd say the HF2s are the best one of the three, since they are supposedly just a little bit less accurate than the ER4Ps, but for $179 it's a rip-off because you could just get the ER4Ps.

Have you heard the ADDIEM? From your list it doesn't look like it.

The ADDIEM is good for the money. If someone is budget constrained it is a good choice.

Apple also has a pretty good return policy.

the OP can do MUCH better. Check headroom.com for HF2. try eBay or earphonesolutions.com for UE.

Super Fi 3(can be had for $79 online a better choice)
E2c (whatever they are now)
ER6i (the best of the 4)
V-Moda Vibe(too bassy for my taste)

The ADDIEM are better or on par with the SF 3 and much more comfortable.

Since the OP is asking for IEMs with builting controls none of those suggestions are useful.

Thanks all. I didn't intend to start this kind of battle. I agree that I could find many options online, and many for better prices. But that wouldn't account for my $100 gift card to the Apple Store. I apologize for not including that information at the beginning.

I actually ruled out the Ety, as I don't like anything inserted that deeply. After reading through everything, I decided to give the ADDIEM a try, and I'm glad I did. I can certainly see how they might not be for everyone, but they do have a surprisingly good sound. I think fit was more important for me with these than any other IEM I have tried. I usually use the medium tips with anything, but the large on these provide an excellent seal. I found them very neutral for me, maybe leaning a little "dark", but good soundstage and highs. Sound reminded me of good Studio Monitors at work. A little flatter than the Denon C551, maybe not as "lively", but more accurate.

I am sure there are many better IEM out there, but with my 36 year old ears that have been ruined by too many years working in radio, these sound pretty good. Combine that with the added functionality with my 2G iPod touch, and I have a winner. YMMV.

Thank you to everyone for your input.
