Ety ER4P vs Altec Lansing im716 vs Ety ER4B. These three phones look like they were both made by Ety but the prices are a little far apart. How much different do they sound from eaach other?

Also, how are the cable microphonics with both phones?

And how does the ER4B compare with the ER4P and the ER4S?

I haven't heard the the IM716's but the HK EP730's use the same case as the IM716's & the microphonics is pretty bad. I have read that the IM716's have more bass than the ER4P however the HK EP730's did not though I've seen pics of the pod intermals on the IM716's compared to the EP730's that I have & the EP730's are missing some parts that I believe are used fo EQing them so the IM716's do probably have more bass than the ER4P's. The ER4P's cord is somewhat less microphonic than the IM716as a result of thinner but higher quality cables.

er4b have sound like er4s but a much tame treble. er4p sound harsh on treble and im716 in hd mode is much warmer and less extension at both ends

they are designed for binaural recordings -- those are few and far between.

stick with the er-4p/s for most applications.

Appropriate amplification resolves most of the issues that plague the iM716. Arguably, when amped, the iM716 may be in some more technical aspects superior to the ER4P (not sure about the S). I actually like the iM716 better through a Go-Vibe V5 (and hopefully in some number of months, a Xin Supermini IV).
