Essence STX Problem, Left-Channel volume. Help.

I sold my STX on eBay last week. The buyer has reported that there is a fault with it.
 
It would seem that when he turns his volume down, using Windows or a Media program, the left channel does not lower. The right works as normal. This only happens after half an hour. It can only be fixed by a reinstall; a reboot does not solve it.
 
He didn't say whether using the volume on his Amp has the same effect but have asked him and will update when I find out - from what he has said it would *appear* that his Amplifier volume works as normal, but I cannot be sure about this.
 
The fact that it only happens after half an hour and works after a reinstall leaves me hoping that it's only a software problem.
 
I've asked him if he can try it in another PC to verify whether the problem is the card or not.
 
Any suggestions or knowledge to share on this?
 
Please help, I sold this to partly pay for a holiday at some point next month. I'll have to postpone otherwise. =(.

I have the same problem but on the right channel.
 
I have 2 STX cards, one on the living room htpc and another on the office pc and both have the same problem. I already exchanged the cards between pcs and the problem persists...
Drivers have been reinstalled and nothing fixed the problem so far
 
I'll post any findings if I find a solution.

Solved.
 
Uninstall driver, reboot.
 
Reinstall driver, reboot.
 
All is ok now.
