With OG prices going through the rough, I am curious to get the replica ES-R10.

Whats the todays consensus of the headphone? How close is it to the Sony, especially in the mids and the staging, how does it compare to something like Verite Open / Closed and Caldera, how well does it scale on summit amps and dacs?

Thanks=)

ES is warmer, OG is more forward in upper mid range and quite a bit more refined. To me quite different but immensly enjoyable nonetheless. Long story short i liked the ES so much that it made me seek out the OG, however they are quite different imho. Most people say 7-8/10 simillarity, but if pressed id say 5/10 for the cup resonances and organic timbre....the rest of the presentation seems quite different to me.

Is this comparison based on stock cable?

Good silver cable makes ES much more transparent and resolving.

Yes stock - but my comparison is based more on tonality and presentation than transparency, resolution and technicalities....the OG also is brighter yet even smoother... perhaps one of my favourite things about it. Given the age of the R10 and varied condition of units...dont take my word for it....seek it out! Cheers.
