Back when I still had the Glenn OTL amp, there are 2 sets of tubes that I love a lot with GOTL. The first is using quad 5998 and the second is using 6 x 6BX7. Both are very dynamic with incredible punch and slam. That is an OTL amp though.

Here the 6BX7 and 5998 are used in a transformer coupled SET amp in the Super 6BX7 and 5998. So I'm hearing 5998 and 6BX7 in 2 different amps. I had started to be very impressed with the Super Micros but I am more drawn to these 2 amps now. If I had to choose one amp out of the 4, it would be one of these. Which one is a difficult choice.

Synergy is a well known word and here is where I have my preference. Love Grado GH1 and HD800 with the 4 McChanson amps, particularly the Super 5998 and 6BX7. HD800 is also superb with my Odyssey and Oblivion.

However with Susvara, I much prefer it with Odyssey and Oblivion. No contest here.

With most other headphones, they would pair superbly with these 4 Mchanson's amps. Grado users would be hard pressed to find a better amp.

I'll have to try my pair of Hemps with the 6BL7 Mini I got. Thanks for looking into Eric's new configurations. I'm looking into more exotic tubes like a avionics Telefunken tube of late. So far still a great pairing with dynamics and planars alike.

I've yet to roll in 6BL7 tubes in. So far I'm using 6BX7. I'm stuck at GEC A2900 as driver. Both the GEC and Brimar CV455 are very good. I've a Telefunken ECC801S which I will try next.

I will get another Grado. That's inevitable. I'm loving GH1 with both the Super 6BX7 and Super 5998. Eric's amps sound liquid and slightly warm and is perfect for Grados and for He1000se.

I'm thinking if I get another amp, it would be the Super 6BX7 because I still have 12 x 6BX7 and 6 x 6BL7.

Specially for him. Susvara came alive with 6BL7gta and 5691. Strange what a change of tubes can do.

6BL7 has a higher gain and sound brighter.

The Super 6BX7 at 3w per channel drives my speaker in nearfield very well. Watching Wimbledon 2022.

If not for this Super Mini, I would not have the chance to pair GEC A2900 with Tung Sol 5998. They are equally famous in their own right. When paired together, it's the Conquest of Paradise.

This amp probably have more rolling options than the Super 6BX7. Not better but just more rolling options.

Grado is a unique sound. I've only discovered it recently when I decide to buy someone's GH1. With the right amp, it sounds incredible.

Eric knows his tubes. His choice of using 6S45P in a one stage setup is perfect for the GH1. I've gone back to this Super Micro again. It's vivid, nuanced, with staccato precision on the GH1. It's infectious and hard to stop listening.

Another look at this little pocket dynamite. Volume at 11am and it's loud on the GH1. When I am in the mood, I tend to listen loud.

Which of his amps would represent the best value in the lineup?

I was looking at the micro chassis amps as they are more desktop friendly but if the mini chassis amps are better, I'd sacrifice the space for it.
