Eric McChanson Headphone Amp??

A few reasons, mainly because the Willsenton sounds like crap with my Hifiman Arya Stealths and headphones in general, secondly I love tinkering and tube rolling and variation and the ability to use it with speakers, all of which the Ultimate can apparently do in style , plus it looks sexy as , which is always a bonus and it’s reasonably priced and made in Australia 👍👌🍻

You have come to the right amp then. Ultimate can do all of that and more. Being made in Australia is a primary consideration for me, especially when I can just drive over to Eric's place and pick it up. :relaxed:

That is scratching the surface. Ask @ARCXENOS how much he would have spend in 2 years time.

I stopped counting after the Elrog and Ecc32, too many fun pieces of glass in my stash now

Maybe in the future after my next amp, l'll see if I can get a weird low power combo from Eric (2.5v UX5-centric type 27/56 drivers, type 46 power or more)

The Willsenton stuff apparently do not have good headphone output, typically I read people using speaker taps with them, which I am not a fan of, so IMO you did the right choice getting the Ultimate :)

I am sure @UntilThen will have alot of tips for you on what to start rolling, you are in good company

Aren't you going to get GEC KT88 and Telefunken EL34 metal base for your forthcoming Mischa's amp? Don't forget the ECC34 and ECC35. They are very good.

If you have a particular driver and power tube combination in mind, seeing Eric makes sense.

Asking me for advice on tubes is a bad idea because this is what I will recommend but that shouldn't be a problem for @crakers7 .

These 2 pairs are the last of my NOS power tubes purchase. Both were brand new and cost me only AUD$1500. If you think that is expensive, you have to check the price now of new tubes. Bought it off a friend name Tony, who sold it to me reluctantly. But I bought a whole bunch of NOS tubes from him including Tung Sol 6550 1960s, Philips Miniwatt EL34 metal base (2 pairs), Philips Miniwatt EL34 double O getters (sold to @Leicachamp now), GEC KT66 (new). And the GEC KT88 and Philips Miniwatt EL34 double D getters brown base below.

Good tubes are very expensive now. Every knowledgable seller and buyers know these tubes and everyone are looking for deals. What you have bought are good and cheap(er) alternatives but the experience is not complete without GEC, Mullard and Telefunken.

So it's best not to ask me what tubes to buy. :)

It looks like my Super SilkE UltimatE will be here tomorrow! Started the journey on July 20 Australian date/time. It should be delivered to the UPS store in Chandler tomorrow morning for me to pick up at my leisure.

That is fast !
