have been in touch with Stefan AudioArt about making a custom cable for the akg k271s. however i got this email this morning (european time):

The Stefan AudioArt Equinox cable for the AKG 271 studio headphones is still in its' final stages of testing.

I believe it will be available shortly.

Does anyone know if all of the Equinox cables (HD600/HD590/K1000/K271) are the same cable formula, or different for each headphone model for which they are designed?

they're all the same. Stefan Audio just mods the connector jacks for the phones.

got some more info from stefan audioart. the cable will propably be out in about 4 to 5 weeks. the sonic benefits according to james:

Richer fuller sound - more transparent - increased soundstage.

i heard that the 271s and other "s"'s use a mini-XLR? ...anyone know where i can buy these plugs?
