hello guys ~ I'm right now using a Terratec DMX 6Fire LTfor music playback in my computer. Also using a LC-King to the MS-2.

right now I'm searching for a new card that is superior to the DMX LT in terms of music playback quality. I want a card that has good analytical power and more importantly, musical.

I've tried the ESI 192X b4 and i'm impresed with its analytical power when playing songs using the Foobar and resample to 24/192. It has way alot more detail than the DMX at this point.

How do the 1212M and Echo Miamidi compare to these 2 cards in music playback?

From what I heard, the ESI WT is better known for its ADC than analogue out quality. I am sure it sounds great compared to most soundcards out there, that's for sure. I recently purchased a 1212M, and I couldn't be happier. It's DAC and ADC are TOP of the line. Take the 1212M and never look back

so you think that the analog out from the 1212M is even better than 192X?

adding an external DAC to my system is not feasible as ... I'm gonna study abroad in UK soon ... can't take an extra metal box along with my luggage

so ... maybe I'll get the 1212M and later when I have settled down ... I'll get the DAC

Well, if you get the 1212M now, you will love the analogue out. If you choose to get a DAC later on, you will have a great optical source in the 1212M. I personally cannot imagine a source sounding better than the 1212M. I would need some $$$ equipment to hear the difference, I suppose.

not really.. 1212m is nice, but nothing too fancy.. WT192X when modded isn't a bad card neither.. 1212m is however better..

I owned both cards, migrated from WT192X to 1212m.. E-MU is significantly better, while having the same ADC it has much better clock generators and the D/A side of things are clearly better on E-MU too.. but ESI has sonicaly the best implementation of AK4355.. with AD8620 and AD826 the card has very good sound, but E-MU is still better, no wonder it has better parts all over the board..

Mia has similar hardware as DMX or Audiophile, you'll notice change in sound, but this is due to different opamps used and different approaches in supply treatment.. the qualitative level is about the same.. 1212m is a leap ahead hadrware-wise and thus sound-wise..

Is it worth to upgrade to 1212M if I am using MiaMidi now?

Thanks!

I am planning whether I buy this card for my sister when upgrading her computer next time.
