Elysian Annihilator 2023

After spending all day at CanJam, I realized how much I appreciate my Anni 23. I really didn't hear anything that I felt had better treble than the Anni 23. The best sound of the show for me was probably the Fugaku, followed by my Anni 23 played through the Viva Egoista 2a3. I recently purchased the Elysian X, but I find the X to be more of a sideways move vs an upgrade. Yes, it's warmer, and has more midrange presence, but Anni 23 is more dynamic and the treble is smoother, and more resolving and more extended.

I have every popular tip for sale. My favorite tips for the Anni 23 are the JVC Spiral Dot EP FX12, Eletech Baroque, and the new Azla Crystal 2. I recently picked up the Al and Brass Pentaconn tips, but I haven't tried them yet.

As far as cables, I like the Venom stock cable, but I much prefer my Gladiator Virtus Ametis with all Pentaconn connectors. Slightly warmish cable with great treble clarity and detail. Highly recommend this cable.

I honestly feel that most DAPs won't drive Anni 23 well. You get the highs, but not much else. But plugged into the LPGT 2 and the Brise Tsu ( I prefer my V1 with Anni 23) and the sound is really amazing. Dynamics and resolution that aren't easily matched.

I'll carefully compare the sound of my current combo with the Dio. At CanJam it was fairly difficult to hear much at the crazy crowded, loud MusicTeck booth.

At this point, I'm veering towards "specialist" IEMs, rotating based on what I happen to be listening to. This is fun for me ..... until I somehow find an all arounder which sounds great with all music. Doubt that will happen anytime soon.

Feb 2025 - and I still love my Anni 23. Looking forward to Anni 25!!

i just got my annis this week. Bought them second hand for 2.2k off ebay and jumped from a 7hz timeless to this. Treble is everything i ever wanted in a headphone, just wish the bass had a bit more oomph in it but thats the only nitpick i have.

What are you using to drive the Annis? Most DAPs can't drive them well, and then you're left with just highs.

I loved the synergy between the Anni 2023 and DX320 with a modded AMP12EXN-S.

On my AMP15 (DX340), it seems to be a bit underpowered for the Anni 2023. AMP17 and AMP18 are for sure going to be much more powerful but we won't see those until later in the year.

Don't use a DAP, i use a ibasso dc elite and a hip dac 2. Already drives them to ear splitting levels.

Yeah, imho, the iBasso DC Elite can't really drive the Anni 23. And the sound is pretty bright and the mids and the bass are recessed. If you get a chance listen to the Anni 23 with the LPGT2 or maybe the L&P P6Pro.

Welcome to the club! Seconding all the other replies to say try it with a more powerful source before you write off the bass, it can kick like a mule

I’m using it with the Qudelix T71 and love that combo. Bass is huge. Especially for the EQ option of the T71 that lets me tame the mid bass a little. I can’t compare to the elite or hip dac, though.

Personally I'm fine with the mid bass but it's the subbass that's bothering me a little bit, where some tracks just lose all their body.

Maybe I'll try some EQ but otherwise the iem is nigh perfection for me.

May i ask in where did you buy your vannuys products? It seems that they don’t ship out internationally. Thanks in advance.

One of the few iems, that can actually highlight the difference between Hugo 2 and Mojo 2 in my collection.
For Annihilator and the IE900, I would definitely upgrade to the Hugo 2. Better note definition in the Bass and mid-bass region, without getting shouty in the vocals.
Mojo 2 sounds smeary in comparison.
I had the OG Hugo and Mojo for 10 years and only recently upgraded to Hugo2/Mojo2 earlier this year. These are built to last, I would not worry about Hugo 3 and just pull the trigger for the going price in Classifieds.
Well, I lasted about 5 months. Hugo 2 incoming...

How are you liking the pairing?
Haven't had long with it yet but my first few hours have been a blast! The Annihilators really respond to the detail in the treble in a way I haven't heard with my other sources. With my IER-Z1Rs on first listening this is a bit overwhelming, but with the Annis the bass seems to counterbalance it well and I'm really enjoying the pairing. Thanks for the push!
