Eletech Cables Official Impressions & Discussions Thread

Oh M Gee I just finished reading all 346 pages worth of posts here. I have got to say I enjoyed reading every single post from everyone here, especially @Eric Chong with how friendly and approachable he is. I just love the camaraderie amongst everyone here! :)

I'm kind of an audio noob but also kind of went down the rabbit hole a bit. It's kind of hard for me to describe sonically what I prefer, so I was wondering if I can ask you nice fellows here for some recommendations for my first Eletech cable purchase (I am secretly annoyed at not finding this thread much earlier so I can buy some of the leather goods). I currently have the Thieaudio Monarch Mk3 and it's paired with Cayin N7. I was wondering which of ET's cables do you recommend? I'm kind of enamored by the Illiad, Aenied, P8 Plato X Socrates (if I can find these). Not that price is of no object, but if ignoring price which one of ET's cables do you all recommend?

Oh god you finish reading the entire thread. So sorry that we've been extra chatty throughout the years. Often we get led astray and talk about non-audio or cables heheh. We're also blessed with very good and kind people here, for that we are always grateful :)

I'd agree with @Auricon .,

It would depend on what you are looking to improve off your current setup. I would say a good start point would be Azrael (a pretty capable entry into Eletech) or Raphael (something special from ET and one of my personal favourites. It has the best Cost/Performance in the lineup).

Another thing is if you would have somewhere to demo the cables in your vicinity or do you plan to visit any Canjams / Audio shows? With cables i always felt it'd be best if you can experience it yourself :)

No rush at all, besides with 2024 on the horizon, and 2024 being our 5th year anniversary. Perhaps we'd have something that catches your eye then? :D

-Eric

I did the same early on when I first saw pics of ET cables and interconnects – I thought, “what are these gorgeous cables and I should read up” 🤭

I just noticed that my Iliad has older packaging with grey graphics instead of gold lol. Can’t believe it’s over 3 years old now, time flies..
Yeah… I remember it was the start of Covid lockdowns or restrictions. I was fortunate that @Eric Chong managed to get the cables to me before things really shut down. I recall I picked it up for the FitEar DC. :)

You guys were one of the OG 🙏 I remember Covid lockdown hit not long after Eletech began and we were wondering if we're gonna make it 😂

What are your trying to improve or achieve with MMK3 + N7?

N7 has a natural analog like tonality, large soundstage and textural bass impact that Cayin DAPs are known for.

If you're looking for a great starting all-rounder, I'd recommend Raphael - bass impact is exceptional, richer and organic. Mids are slightly forward for extended treble bring clarity and layering. I also perceive larger soundstage. Raphael does wonders for IEMs like EXT and Indigo. I also enjoy pairing with my FiR Radon 6 for rich mids and bass.

TBH the revamped Virtue Series are exceptional performance for price. Raphael is the standout for me more so than Socrates. For warmth, Azrael and clarity + warmth, Cassiel.

Going up, Illiad would be my next recommendation - it's silver that has qualities of copper.

Hope this helps and welcome!

Thanks for the response! MMKIII is quite bassy (as compared to MMKII as told by others, as I haven't heard the MKII), and I would like to improve on the top end a bit, and a wider soundstage if possible. I was looking at Raphael as well, but I found a used Aeneid for a good price so I am leaning towards that one. The only thing is now I'm intrigued by the Sonnet of Adam, even though I told myself before to not even consider that one :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: I'm just thinking if the Adam is overkill for the MMKIII.

I don't believe I can demo any near where I am in San Francisco. Is that a hint Eric?? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: Now I am very intrigued...maybe I'll pick up the Raphael or used Aeneid now, and then see about picking up whatever comes out in 2024 instead of the Adam. But boy I want the Adam I want the Adam.

Gosh you came in much earlier than I did though..I remembering seeing your first post here...and I'm like I remember this guy! Cause I also went through the N7 thread and C9 thread and loved a lot of your posts there :)🤣

Based on your description, I suspect the Aeneid would be a better fit than the Sonnet Of Adam :)

Ugh! The nearest we'll be to you will be during Canjam SoCal next year unfortunately.

I picked up the Perseus with my new Monarch MKIII...pretty awesome, if I do say so myself.

I quite liked the Perseus as well with the Fei Wan.

@warrenpchi really likes the cable as well. I picked it up when it was released and find it awesome with soundtracks and live performances...any music where one wants the most soundstage possible from the gear being used.

I was just playing Peter Gabriel's i/O on it--which has incredible production--and the soundstage is crazy for an IEM.

🥳 Perseus! It's such an atypical and singularly special cable. I can't recommend it as a general purpose cable, in that it's not going to perform well as a tone control, nor does it magically elicit hitherto unheard detail much. That said...

Yes, exactly that! To my ears, it extends the low end for more sub-bass, and greatly expands the soundstage - perhaps even beyond a point that is accurate, but I don't care because it's so glorious!

@NovaFlyer and I are both into soundtracks in a big way, and we're always marveling at what the Perseus adds to our rigs for that. In fact, I'm working on a content feature where I'm using the Perseus for watching the films themselves... because if it's great for soundtracks, imagine actually watching content with it! :open_mouth:

Ooh, thanks for the rec! I haven't tried Peter Gabriel with it yet, but I know it does well with a lot of Shoegazing, Dream Pop, and some Indie tracks. It's messy and incomplete right now, but here's a list I've put together just for testing those genres:
