Got one of the first pairs of LCD-2s and it works well with the BA. The LCD-2s aren't a particularly hard headphone to drive well though as it sounds almost as good (Though at times good in different ways) from all my amps. Have not yet found an amp that I won that doesn't mate well with it and I have several.
Also hosting a meet at my place this Saturday. Short notice I know, but Craig/foo_me (foo_me hasn't confirmed yet, but likely) will be there so there will probably be at least a few BAs and a prototype of Craig's latest offering.

"The EC 215 is a hybrid by polar, 15 watts 8 ohms, 30 watts per channel 4 ohms. Single ended in, and out."
It's a speaker amp/preamp hybrid. (I'm thinking power amp is solid state and pre amp stuff is tube, but that may not be correct). Not sure if it has headphone outs or not.

Do you think he will ever build a stat amp? I would love to have a matching E.C. stat amp.

I have been toying with the thought of getting a set of Western Electric 300b to see the differance between the 300b and my KR PX4.
OUCH! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320593921978&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1154 and a thousand for the slightly used reissued Western Electric 300b (2005). http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190447819696&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_522wt_911
That would be nice...

I had the balanced Voice recabled HD800s with my PX4 BA for awhile. Recabling the HD800s made a big difference with bass and overall presentation, but I always felt the sound was lacking in some way. It seemed like I was constantly turning up the volume. So, even recabled, my feeling is that the bass is still lacking. Also, the sound wasn't as cohesive as I'd like. The left ear vs right ear was noticeable, so it was lacking in center-fill. I'm now happily using some LCD-2s and feel that these headphones are a much better fit with the BA.

Are you using the Sophia or the KR PX4's?

Interesting, but not my experience with this combo. I have been listening using the EML300B/TS RP & KR PX4/RCA Gray Glass and it has been a real pleasure. Bass is excellent on both pairings but tighter and more extended with the PX4. Maybe my source (Amarra Model 4) does bass better? Soundstage is great and quite cohesive for me.
I do think the BA has quite a pleasant sound, warm even. My SDS-XLR has more air and separation. I like both presentations.
Maybe it just comes down to listening preferences? My HD800 is stock cable balanced (since I do not believe in cable differences any longer, although I have heard them in years past with the HD650).

The Amarra 4 is the same as the MH LIO-8 which supposedly has great bass. Have you checked out the LCD-2s on your set-up? Just curious. I'm very tempted to try the LIO-8/Amarra 4 soon.
Correct, same DAC. I have not tried the LCD-2. From what I have read, it seems they might not be for me?

As far as the Amarra 4 goes, where did you get the proper adapters for the cabling from?
My friend and I made them from Mogami. Made an 8-channel breakout cable to connect to all 4 of my amps. Can't beat Mogami at $.50/foot. Sold all my super expensive cables.
